Riobamba is an Ecuadorian-Jewish DJ, death doula, and cultural activist. Her practice is grounded in ancestral veneration, bone-deep listening, and presence with seen and unseen worlds. Past performance highlights include Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art, MoMA PS1, and Rolling Stone’s Future of Music.
She’s also a Ph.D. candidate in Performance as Public Practice at The University of Texas at Austin. Her research investigates the intersections of queer dissonant sound and death ritual in Ecuador as resistance technologies for disrupting neoliberalism.
I’m so happy to share that I’m joining @yabisi_centr0 School of Remembrance as faculty 📚🤍🕯️ The school is a year-long training for practitioners and emerging healers to deepen their roots in ancestral wisdom, plant medicine, and embodied spiritual practice ❤️🔥 I’ll be guiding a session on grief work and legacy, and am honored to join folks walking this path with heart and integrity.
