RMIT designer Maria Interino presents Chromophilia, a collection shaped by her connection to the Filipino Parol and her ongoing exploration of colour as cultural identity. Working with light-reactive fabrics, cracked leather, and ultrasonic embossing, she builds sculptural silhouettes from simple geometric forms, linking her background in drawing and painting to her construction process. Through this material and structural experimentation, Interino positions colour as a deliberate design language within contemporary fashion.

CHROMOPHILIA ; In a world full of neutral palettes, add some colour !
Chromophilia is the association of a deep love for colours. This fashion collection informs my artistic journey as a fashion design student that is rooted in creating, drawing and painting through line, form and texture. I aim to bring colour through my own perspective as a representation of my identity, upbringing and sense of belonging. I’m challenging what it means to wear, create and live colour through my daily life.

僕の母校である下関市の王江小学校は、2022年に閉校しました。
小学生の頃、この校庭でサッカーを始めた頃に比べると少しは大人になれたかなと感じている今日この頃です。
ずっと映像として残したいと思っていた場所なので、こうして形にできて本当に嬉しいです。

My alma mater, Oe Elementary School in Shimonoseki, was closed down in 2022.
Thinking back to when I first started playing soccer on that schoolyard as a child, I can’t help but feel that I’ve grown up a little since then.
I had always wanted to preserve this place through film, so I’m truly happy to finally have been able to make it happen.

“I created a documentary film about my former elementary school, Ōe Elementary School.
The school was closed three years ago. When I visited it again for the first time in a long while, I was overwhelmed with emotion. I wanted to capture those feelings, along with the school’s beautiful architecture, just as they were, so I picked up my camera and started filming.”
