This year, Ringvide was among the makers presented at the Swedish Design Pavilion at Salone del Mobile.
Ringvide is the work of Lukas Dahlén, made by hand on the island of Gotland, 90 kilometres off the coast of Sweden. The Weave collection — furniture shaped by the ancient principle of weaving something soft around a more stable structure — is the kind of work that demands mastery to design and produce.
At the Stay Timeless event, I finally met Leila Alwaheb and Lukas in person. After years of working together across oceans and time zones, sitting across from the people behind the work was incredible. We talked details of the new Weave design, family, and a future visit to Gotland.
