My Pulitzer Prize-winning photos were captured exactly five years ago today, when thousands of protesters began their march at Pan Pacific Park in the Fairfax District. The demonstration then spread toward West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and other nearby areas. Stores and police cars were vandalized along Beverly Boulevard near The Grove shopping center, and several vehicles were torched. Instances of looting occurred in Fairfax, and a police kiosk was set on fire at The Grove. #blm #year2020 #pulitzerprize

Our SoCal Chinese Restaurants photo project made its way to the classroom at UCLA ! 🎉
Thanks to the invitation from Prof. Min Zhou and Asia Pacific Center, Nick @utnicky Irfan @pixtakerirfan Ringo @ringochiu Michael @abushams and Sarah @sarahreingewirtz joined undergrad students at Dodd Hall to share images and stories from the recent project --- from memorable encounters during the assignments to reflections on how Chinese food culture connects communities.
The Q&A session brought thoughtful conversation about documentary photography, cultural storytelling, and the people behind the restaurants we photographed.
Huge thanks to Professor Zhou and UCLA Asia Pacific Center for the invitation and warm hospitality! Look forward to the next collaboration! 👏👏
