These chandeliers came out so beautiful, just the way we envisioned. We did the research, found the Pinterest inspo, and knew we needed a custom metal hoop to make it work — so we found a welder who actually got the vision and executed it perfectly. Then came the fun part: measuring every strand at 5cm apart, one by one, with the whole family recruited as unpaid labour. Turns out hanging silk strands at exactly 5cm intervals is a serious test of everyone’s motor skills and patience. Worth it? This thing stopped everyone in their tracks and we are not sorry about it. The gate was a whole other adventure. First-time modular build with our neighbour @woodworksrv , featuring the 8 auspicious signs and a Tashi Delek welcome. Traditional Tibetan craftsmanship meets modern aesthetic. Honestly, what better gate for a Tibetan wedding? We can’t think of one. Swipe for before and after transformation. ➡️

Reposting with clarification and a lot of love, because the original credits were incomplete. P.S. My husband has been officially relieved of his IG duties. Effective immediately. References available upon request. 😂 The wedding stunning setup came together thanks to a whole crew of friends, family, and volunteers who worked their magic behind the scenes. Their time, effort, and teamwork are what turned this into such a dreamy day for the bride and groom. Dekyi’s Creations was honoured to contribute rental décor and styling, specifically the bar design, chandeliers, drapes, ceiling florals, backdrop and entrance gate elements. Huge thank you to everyone who helped bring this wedding to life. So much love to the beautiful couple, their family, and their friends. 🤍

Humbled to be featured in the latest edition of the Queen’s Alumni Review magazine. As the CBC’s first AI Advisor, I understand the importance of the moment we are in. AI is already reshaping the media industry and we must prepare Canadians for the profound societal changes to come. Everybody has different stances on what to do and how we should be resisting or working or collaborating. I feel we should try to find a way to work with the technology so we can have some agency and say, ‘Here’s how we would like to use it.’ Link to the full story in my bio.

We’ve been away for quite some time due to our recent wedding, which we planned and designed by ourselves. Through this entire process, I discovered that as much as I love refinishing furniture, I realized just how much I love transforming spaces through decoration and design. We learned so much during the planning of our wedding and are keen to share the knowledge and experience that we gained with others. Dekyi’s Creations can help bring your Pinterest pins to life and design your dream wedding. Swipe through the photos to see how we decorated our wedding and what the venue looked like before. The wedding decor and design services we will be offering include but are not limited to: White satin drape rental High quality silk flowers Floral chandeliers Photo backdrop design and build Overall wedding design To book a free consultation and receive a quote, DM or email us at: [email protected]

On January 30, 2024, CBC Toronto invited Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park neighbourhood residents to a free, CBC-hosted ‘Listening Session’ at the Jenner Jean-Marie Community Centre in Toronto’s east end. Over 60 attendees had their say, meeting with journalists and voicing the most pressing issues facing their community, topics they feel are often under-reported by mainstream media. The event format is called a Listening Session, a form of engagement journalism that brings people together for a two-way dialogue in an intimately facilitated setting. The goal is to foster trust, build community connections and inform CBC Toronto’s reporting. CBC Toronto launched a Thorncliffe Park community bureau in January 2024 as part of the Communities in Focus initiative. CBC Toronto journalists are now dedicated to Thorncliffe Park coverage, spotlighting this unique community through thoughtful and informed reporting.

While the world has moved on, Tibetans are left to pick up the pieces. I'm proud to have reported on this story that was covered extensively across the globe, but without context. Tibetans were left out of the discussions around something that was so real for them, left traumatized and feeling unable to voice their concerns. A global movement sprung that called for accurate and balanced coverage of the interaction. Tibetans took it into their own hands to explain and discuss the matter on their own channels. I read and watched all of what Tibetans had to say. But to this day, no main stream media outlet has tried to explain the matter or talk to Tibetans. Thank you to @CBCNews for listening to Tibetans and being one of the only media outlets in the world to provide the appropriate context. Link to the full video is in my bio.

📸 @evanmitsui /CBC “On Wednesday afternoon, hundreds of people gathered in a park outside the CBC Broadcast Centre on Front and John streets to demand that the media "tell the truth" about the Dalai Lama. The demonstrators marched from Parkdale's Little Tibet neighbourhood to Simcoe Park.”
