Pievienojies, lai kopā svinētu to, ko esam sasnieguši! 🇬🇧 Join the Riga Pride 2026 “March for Freedom” on June 13th! Freedom and human rights cannot be taken for granted. They must be stood up for every day, every year. Together! At a time when human rights are being questioned across the world and here in Latvia, it is vital to remember that we have the power to protect them. In the twenty-one years since the first Riga Pride, we have proven that together, we are a force. We have changed Latvia. And together, we will only move forward. Join us to celebrate everything we have achieved! Come and stand up for everything we have yet to reach! Information regarding the march and registration will follow soon. Mark your calendar. Join us on June 13th! #RigaPride #RigaPride2026 #Pride #Riga

🌈 - 01.06. 19:00 - K.Suns

Queering the archive: Who tells your story? | Community Event We are step by step making our way to reactivate our channel and community here. We have been working non-stop backstage preparing for the upcoming pop-up exhibition within @rigapride , as well as researching, connecting with locals and Queer Museums and initiatives around Europe, studying, planning, learning and unlearning, and being in absolute awe with our so far discoveries and the people we meet along the way. 🥰🫂 Inspired by this process and more, we invite you to join us in the first series of events, where we would like to explore together the intersections, urgency, and responsibility of telling our own stories. 📅 Wednesday, 13.05., 18:30-20:30 📍 LGBT House, Stabu iela 19 (underground), Riga. 📝 Want to join? register via link in our QM linktree. For many marginalized communities, archives have often been shaped by outside perspectives, misrepresented, or erased altogether. Within an open space and peer to peer learning approach, we want to connect, reflect and exchange experiences, knowledge, desires and collectively imagine the possible creation of a queer community archive. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 Specifically to – explore why community-led archives matter – get familiar with archival activism, and its different forms – share tools and approaches for holding and preserving stories Whether you’re an artist, activist, archivist, or simply curious, your presence matters. This is not a lecture, rather a space where we can start co-creating together. 🙌🏽 We also invite you to actively contribute: feel free to bring an item you would be interested to include to this year’s exhibition. We will also have materials to craft, write, or paint something on the spot that can become part of the archive itself. [LV in the comments] The event is taking place within Queer Museum Riga initiative. It is part of the Pride Begins volunteering project, which is co-funded with the support of the European Union’s European Solidarity Corps programme, which is administered in Latvia by @jspa_latvia #queermuseumriga #activerainbow #nonformaleducation #queeringthearchive #queer

Amber To Remember Kiki Function Organised by @ivo.krievins the Trailblazer of @latvianballroomscene and Founding Parent of @kikihouseoftutti Description: Amber is a gem found in the Baltic region. It is formed from tree resin released when a tree is wounded, protecting it in the process of healing. Over time, this resin hardens and becomes amber — a material worn as jewelry. In this ball, amber becomes a symbol of the Ballroom community in Latvia, built over more than six years as a safe environment for queer individuals. Like amber, the ballroom community is transformative and healing. This amber has preserved people’s stories, dreams, struggles, and victories. Exclusion, loneliness, and the absence of belonging have been transformed into something lasting, visible and powerful. This event is a reflection on the time devoted to building the community and the community that continues to shine. 12.06.2026 @skapis.riga Aristida Briāna iela 9a, Riga, Latvia In collaboration with @rigapride More information coming soon.

Who tells your story? “By carrying suffering, blood and tears, the river cares, it heals. Being carried is not a disappearance or absolution; it is a holding, a keeping. […]” (Lapiņa, 2020, p. 39), Lapina writes in her journal article in which she explores the relationship between the Daugava River and the act of re-membering. The Daugava River has a vast symbolic meaning in Latvia. According to Latvian folk songs it is believed the Daugava River carries memories/histories of Latvian people to the sea and is filled with precious souls (Lapiņa, 2020, p. 33). In this edition of the queer museum, we are asking what stories will wash upon shore, when we come close and listen. Museums cannot be understood as neutral ground, exhibiting and showcasing what needs to be seen. Historically and until the present day, museums have been and are deeply intertwined with current systems of power. Equally, narratives about queerness are objected to institutional control. Which leads us to ask the question: Who is telling the story? With this open call we are inviting you to let your stories be carried by the river, as a collective act of caring, holding and keeping your story. We aim to create a space that questions whose stories get told, by and for whom. Who is enabled to speak? Whose art is exhibited in museums and for whom? What are the stories you would like to see but cannot seem to find? We do not recognize museums solely as a showcasing or preserving of art, but as a space of shared doing, being, knowing and becoming: A river flowing through space. We specifically aim to highlight queer stories and works that center an intersectional approach. 🗓️ Exhibition Dates: June 03–12, 2026 📍 Location: Kaņepes Kultūras centrs, Riga, Latvia. ⏳ Submission Deadline: May 10, 2026 Learn more about how to apply in the application form that you can find in the link-tree in the Bio.
