On Friday, May 8th, after two days of gathering for #GLFAfrica, we move from conference rooms into another kind of space.
A rooftop, a screen, a dancefloor, a photography wall, and conversations carried by sound.
From 5PM to 4AM, Creators in Landscapes Festival opens at
@rift.ke as an evening of film, music, memory and movement, held together by the landscapes that continue to sustain life across Africa.
We begin with stories from the land through the GLF Rangelands Photography Exhibition, Drunken Lectures with Joshua Laizer (
@ole_kuyato ), and screenings of GLFx Virunga’s “The Forest Within” and
@wearenotthemachine ’s “The Battle for Laikipia”.
Then the night unfolds into rhythm, with Tamika (
@tamika_sza ), Nabalayo (
@_nabalayo_ ) & Ochwatts (
@ochwatts_ ), Trabolee (
@trabolee ), Shappaman (shappaman), Soulfud (
@_soul.fud ) and Lady Hash (
@lady_hash ) carrying us from arrival into release.
Rangelands are often spoken about as distant, dry or empty. But they are full of life, culture, knowledge, livestock, wildlife, food, conflict, care, and futures still being fought for.
So we gather to listen differently. To make space for pastoralist stories. To meet each other beyond the usual rooms.
To celebrate the land, the people who steward it, and the sounds that bring us back into relation.
Come early, stay long, and save your space through the link in bio 📍
