The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Bill, 2026 has now been passed in both the houses of the Parliament and is awaiting the President’s Assent. It seeks to narrow the definition of 'transgender person' and remove the right to self-determination of gender identity as recognised in the judgment of 'NALSA v. Government of India'. According to the bill, any support given to transgender persons will be criminalised. A protest will be held outside the Collector’s office on Tuesday evening to protest against the legal and human rights implications of this Amendment. जसे ब्रिटिशांनी तृतीयपंथी समाजाला गुन्हेगार गोषित केले होते तसेच या सरकारला तृतीयपंथी समाजाला गुन्हेगार ठरवायचे आहे कारण आज पर्यंत कोणतीही केस किंवा डॉक्युमेंट नसतानाही या बिल मध्ये सांगण्यात आले आहे की जबरदस्ती तृतीयपंथी बनविणाऱ्या व्यक्तीला ५ वर्षाची शिक्षा होईल! तृतीयपंथी व्यक्तीचे जीवन किती संघर्षमयी असते हे सगळ्यांना माहित आहे तर जबरदस्ती करून कोण कोणाला का तृतीयपंथी बनवेल आणि ती व्यक्ती का बनेल? अनेक वेळा बोले जाते की हे लोकं मुलांना उचलून नेतात पण आजपर्यंत असा गुन्हा कधी दाखल झाला आहे का? पण आम्हाला अपहरणकर्ते म्हणून ओळख दिली जात आहे. ह्यामुळे सांस्कृतिक रित्या जोडलेल्या असलेले व्यक्ती ज्यांना सरकार या बिल मध्ये तृतीयपंथी समजते त्यांना व जे या परंपरेमध्ये नाही आहेत अशा लोकांवर विनाकारण कारवाही करण्यासाठी प्रोत्साहन देते. समाजातील कोणत्या व्यक्तीने माझ्यावर अत्याचार केला तर त्याला ६ महिने ते २ वर्षाची शिक्षा आणि माझ्या समाजातील व्यक्तीने जबरदस्ती करून हिजडा बनवले किंवा मंगती करायला लावले असे आरोप लावल्यावर ५ वर्ष ते १० वर्षाची शिक्षा कोणती समानता आहे ह्या मध्ये आणि ह्याचा गैरवापर करून समाजामध्ये सुद्धा वाद निर्माण होउ शकतात. तृतीयपंथी समाज हा आज सर्वात उपेक्षित घटक मानला जातो आणि त्यांना मुख्य प्रवाहात येण्यास मदत करणाऱ्या लोकांना, ngos ना आणि सामाजिक कार्यकर्त्यांना सुद्धा गुन्हेगार म्हणून घोषित करत आहे. आपण लोकतांत्रिक देशात आहोत की हुकूमशाही मध्ये हेच कळत नाही! समाजात आता कुठे तरी जागरूकता निर्माण होते आहे त्यामुळे आई वडील तृतीयपंथी व्यक्तीला मान्य करून समाजाला उत्तर देत आहेत तर हे ही गुन्हेगार का? मग एखादा मुलगा जो अपंग असतो तर त्याला सांभाळणारे आई वडील पण गुन्हेगार का? या संपूर्ण बिल मध्ये असे दिसून येत आहे की त्यांना आम्हाला जिथून सुरू केले तिथेच नेऊन ठेवायचे आहे आणि आम्हाला मनुष्य म्हणून नाही तर एक गुन्हेगार म्हणून आयुष्य जगायला लावायचे आहे. #instagram #reels #viral #transbill2026 #transgender #reelsinstagram #instagood #rejecttransbill2026

A Statement by DBATQ Panthers National Network on Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Bill 2026 This statement comes from the Dalit Bahujan Adivasi Trans Queer Panthers National Network — a network of DBA trans and queer individuals and organisations across the country standing in collective resistance to reject the proposed amendment to the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019. At a time when trans rights must be strengthened, this amendment removes self-identification and centralises control over identity, deepening gatekeeping and reinforcing state and familial control. It disproportionately impacts Dalit, Bahujan, and Adivasi (DBA) trans communities, whose lives are shaped by caste-based discrimination, institutional barriers, and fragile access to care and recognition, thereby intensifying caste-based exclusion and structural injustice rather than addressing it. Through this statement we reiterate our demand for Horizontal reservation. Please sign it if you identify as queer–trans or any other gender–sexual variant community and belong to SC, ST & OBC communities. We will use the signatures to expand this network and strategise further course of action to centre Social Justice within the LGBTQIA+ movement.
