In 1963, Lucie Rie designed 18 cups and 3 interchangeable saucers in Jasperware for Wedgwood. The designs were never put into production and the hand-made prototypes remained in Rie’s personal collection until the end of her life. We’re incredibly grateful to Jonathan Anderson, the teams at JW Anderson and Wedgwood for their invaluable collaboration to realise Rie’s designs as a limited edition. All proceeds from the collaboration will be generously donated to support The Lucie Rie and Hans Coper Foundation. Photos courtesy of JW Anderson.

We’re pleased to announce that The Lucie Rie and Hans Coper Foundation is officially registered as a charity. The foundation has been established to support the understanding of Lucie Rie and Hans Copers’ work and preserve their artistic legacies. Through the creation of a publicly accessible digital archive and grant programme, the foundation aims to facilitate research, exhibitions, publications and promote a wider appreciation of the artists’ work. And now the real work begins. Photo: Hans helping Lucie unload the kiln, Albion Mews, c.1954 © Estate of Jane Coper

The Estate of Lucie Rie, JWANDERSON and Wedgwood are proud to announce their first collaboration.   In 1964, British ceramicist Lucie Rie designed teacups and saucers for Wedgwood which were never produced.   Jonathan Anderson, Wedgwood and the artist’s estate have come together to bring these pieces to life for the first time.   Comprised of two sets: a teacup and saucer alongside a coffee cup and saucer, coloured in Jasper blue with white inlays. The proceeds from these pieces will support the newly formed Lucie Rie and Hans Coper Foundation, to preserve Rie’s work. A grant scheme will also be established to promote the future generations through academic and creative scholarships.   A collaboration that reimagines history through design and celebrates the enduring power of craftmanship.  Available tomorrow exclusively in-store and at JWANDERSON.COM Archival images from the collections of @craftsstudycentre , University for the Creative Arts, Farnham. #JWAnderson #Wedgwood #LucieRie #WedgwoodxJWAnderson
