🏃♀️🚆 Running the Colfax Marathon this weekend? RTD has your route covered.
Temporary detours and delays will be in place Sunday, May 17, from 5:30 a.m. until approximately noon due to the 20th annual Colfax Marathon.
Here’s what to know before you go 👇
🚊 D and H lines will bypass downtown loop stations and reroute through Auraria West, Empower Field at Mile High, Ball Arena–Elitch Gardens, and Union Station
🚫 L Line will not operate during the event
🚌 Use Route 43 as an alternative
⏱️ Expect delays on D, E, H, and W lines, plus multiple bus routes across the Colfax corridor
🎽 Race bib = fare!
On Sunday, May 17 from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., Colfax Marathon race bibs are valid fare on:
- W Line
- Routes 15, 15L, and 16

🏃♂️ Heads up, metro area travelers! The Colfax Marathon will bring temporary RTD detours and delays on Sunday, May 17 from 5:30 a.m. until approximately noon.
🚊 D and H Lines will reroute to Union Station
🚫 L Line will not operate during the event (use Route 43 instead)
🚌 Multiple bus routes along the Colfax corridor will be detoured
⏱️ Expect extra travel time and possible connection delays
🎽 Marathon race bibs will be accepted as fare on the W Line and Routes 15, 15L, and 16 from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on race day.

Behind every RTD trip is extensive operator training 🚍🚆
From classroom instruction and hands-on coaching to immersive light rail simulators and real-world practice bus runs, RTD operators complete 12 weeks of rigorous training designed to prepare them for safe, reliable service across the Denver metro area.
But training doesn’t stop after graduation. Operators continue building skills through refresher courses focused on defensive driving, customer service, de-escalation, and supporting diverse customer needs.
Thank you to the operators helping keep our region moving safely every day. 👏
With the June service changes, RTD will introduce new connections, increased bus and train frequencies, and improved schedules.
The adjustments will support customers during the next phase of the agency’s multi-year Downtown Rail Reconstruction Project starting June 7. The service enhancements represent a significant investment in better, more accessible public transportation for the region.
