[ NIGHTLIFE ] Brisbane’s Home of Backyard Entertainment & One of The Longest-Running Free Live Music venues!
If there’s one venue that feels stitched into the fabric of Fortitude Valley, it’s Ric’s Bar. Part live music venue, part chaotic rite of passage, this long-running favourite has built its name on indie bands, karaoke, DJ sets, party-worn décor and the kind of unpretentious energy that makes a place feel genuinely iconic.
Out the back, Ric’s Backyard has become a destination in its own right, with rainbow fences, street art, fairy-lit Hills Hoists, iconic milk crates, wall art and a relaxed open-air setup that somehow feels both rough around the edges and completely perfect for the Valley. There’s even thrift shop items hanging from the washing lines, so yes, you might genuinely leave in someone else’s outfit.
With a loyal crowd, a stage built for emerging artists, regular open decks and a Hall of Fame featuring names like The Chats, Jungle Giants, Tones and I and Megan Washington, Ric’s has long held its place as one of Brisbane’s longest-running free live music venues. Add in live bands from Thursday to Sunday, karaoke nightly, upstairs dancefloor energy and a beer garden built for big nights, and it’s easy to see why this place still hits.
Ric’s isn’t polished, and that’s exactly the point. It doesn’t need to try hard because it never has.
Have you ever had a big night at Ric’s?
