Chicago Sukkah Design Festival
Rooted in North Lawndale’s Black and Jewish history, the Festival celebrates resilience, interfaith collaboration, and multicultural creativity. Here, neighbors gather to dream, create, and envision just futures - one sukkah at a time.
From its Jewish roots to becoming a hub of Black life and activism, North Lawndale holds stories of struggle, solidarity, and liberation that continue to inspire.

Each co-created sukkah is a third space: a shelter, a stage, a hub, a platform for connection, expression, and collective imagination.
From Pedal and Pause celebrating mobility, to Crate Town supporting youth creativity, to Pavilion Y bringing mobile theater to the streets - these structures embody community, care, and resilience.

Through workshops, performances, and shared programming, the Festival invites everyone to listen, act, and build solidarity. After the Festival, many sukkahs will continue to serve North Lawndale, supporting wellness, art therapy, youth programs, and community resources.

The Ricker Report is an independent award winning architecture publication produced by the students of the Illinois School of Architecture.
Dating back to 1953, this publication originally began as the Ricker Notes, a student-run periodical that contained student work, articles, and news regarding the school. The title of the publication refers to Nathan Clifford Ricker, the first graduate of an architecture program in the United States. Moving forward, the Ricker Report aims to be a platform for critical thought, expression, and speculation.
Visit us at Mini Quad Day to learn more about our work and publication.
