在本周末的世界首演前，鮑力卓回顧了多年來教授丹妮的經歷、她的音樂旅程，以及將「獨行者」帶入生命的意義。

#DaniHoward studied cello with HK Phil Principal Cello #RichardBamping for eight years. Now, she has written a concerto that is a portrait of mentorship, individuality, and the fleeting nature of time, and Richard will be the one to give it its first voice.
Ahead of this weekend’s world premiere, Richard reflects on his years of teaching Dani, her musical journey, and what it means to bring Maverick to life. “She was always more curious about why and how music was written than just how to play it. I knew she’d become a composer one day.”
This story began in Hong Kong. This weekend, it comes full circle.

#DaniHoward ’s Cello Concerto, Maverick, unfolds as a portrait on individuality, mentorship, and the fleeting nature of time. It reflects on what it means to live fully and authentically - to embrace experience, to learn deeply from others, and ultimately to shape a voice that is unmistakably one’s own.
The solo cello stands at the centre of this journey as both narrator and protagonist, as student and mentor. No performer could be more perfectly suited to embody this role as #RichardBamping, HK Phil’s Principal Cello and Howard’s longtime teacher, for whom she wrote this extraordinary piece.

A heartfelt thank you to Maestro #DanielHarding for opening the HK Phil’s 2025/26 season!✨The concert began with #Haydn’s Symphony no. 49 La passione, followed by an excellent interpretation of #Mozart’s Piano Concerto in C Major delivered by pianist #PaulLewis. As a surprise encore, Paul gifted the Hong Kong audience with Schubert’s Allegretto in C minor.
In the second half, HK Phil principals #RichardBamping and #AndrewLing transformed into Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, leading the audience through #RichardStrauss’s evocative tone poem #DonQuixote. ✨Thank you to all the music lovers who joined us in celebrating the beginning of a new chapter. The second performance will begin at 7:30 PM tonight—don’t miss out!

35 Years ago whilst a student at the Guildhall in London, I was poking around in an instrumental store room and discovered an old cello - upside down, no case, no bridge…a few holes! I suspected it could be a lovely cello… and after persuading the college to have it restored - it turned out to be a Vuillaume! I played this beautiful instrument during my remaining time at the college. It was my first proper cello. Today, at my home in Hong Kong, I met the talented young cellist William Lui who is currently studying at the Guildhall and playing the same cello. It was an emotional moment to be reunited with my old friend, and a new one!
🎶🎻An enthralling evening with our dearest friends violinist 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐄𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐧𝐠, violist 𝐊𝐢𝐲𝐞𝐨𝐥 𝐊𝐢𝐦 and cellist 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 🥰🤩 for an all Mozart Programme.
Thank you @andantemusicaorg for organizing the concert, @westk.hk for the venue and everyone who came to the performance 🥹 It was a night that we would remember for a long time.
