:: 01 - 06/05 | R I A A x MILES100 :: at Elbphilharmonie 01-03. May | 14:00 bis 01:00h 04-06. May | 17:00 bis 24:00h free admission on all days Hey folks, Sometimes, things come together for just a brief moment. @elbphilharmonie and R I A A like to invite you to a very special listening session over the course of six consecutive days as part of the Miles100 event series at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. How do you celebrate the 100th birthday of a visionary like Miles Davis? First__ we’re transforming the pop-up space in the heart of the „Elphi“ (remember our 'A Space Between' event in spring 2025?) into a sonic temple. Second__ We play his entire album catalog in full lenght (64 LPs in total! - full schedule in story highlight) on a speaker system that is capable of capturing the soul of his music and widely considered the „Holy Grail“ of audio: A stereo setup of Siemens / Klangfilm Bionor (Kl L433). Why is it so special? Built in the 1950s for grand cinemas, this system is a masterpiece of engineering. The Bionor is all about scale, effortless dynamics, and a „live“ feeling that today’s speakers simply can’t replicate. It doesn’t just play music; it moves the air, making the instruments feel physically present in the room. So take this chance. This setup is a time machine, and as far as we know, this is currently the only place in Europe where you can experience this 70-year-old rarity in public operation. After the event, the system will return to its original owner, who has graciously loaned it to us, and will disappear from the public ear once again. Whether you’re a „sucker for good sound“ or simply someone who loves music, you’re more than welcome to hear what happens when hifi heaven meets the greatest jazz discography of all time. Come by, grab a seat, and let the sound do the talking. Stay curious. See you around. Team RIAA _SPECIAL SHOUTOUT_ No man is an island, and neither are we. None of this would have been possible without the generous support of @elbphilharmonie , Klangfilm.org and @spacegirl_hh .

:: 28/03_SATURDAY | 16:00 - 21:30 :: 'KISSA' SESSION presents 'The Crate' - Label Special w/ PEACE OF MIND INVESTIGATORS aka Block Barley, Zoon van Hout & Hysteria (LIVE+DJ) and Ludwig Mausberg (DJ) Hey folks, Time flows in waves, and after a short hiatus, we’re finally back with a new session at our beloved Teehaus (Große Wallanlagen). We can’t wait to see you all again and we’re bringing some serious musical company. When we first heard these three sound alchemists known as PEACE OF MIND INVESTIGATORS (@taco_hohn , @zoon_van_hout & @hy5t3ria ) on a cold, cloudy night at the Locke, we were completely drawn into their world. They perform live with MPCs, synthesizers, loop machines, and live sampling. The sound is hard to describe, but it feels like teleportation into a futuristic, minimalist, dust-covered, and nearly hypnotic soundtrack. You’ll hear the DNA of Italian Soundtracks, Library records, Dark Wave, and Portishead, blended with the raw aesthetics of The Alchemist, Madlib, and Daringer. Is it HipHop? or a mystic soundtrack chopped up with sample-based beats that pulls you deep into an imaginary world? Who knows. We’re splitting their live set into several parts across the day. In between sets, the guys and @the_crate_records head honcho @ludwig_mausberg will be spinning records. The kind of gems that serve as the foundation for their live sound and the Hamburg-based label itself. Let’s stay curious. See you around next Saturday. Oh.. as usual free admission for all music lovers. Yours Truly.

‘It’s a wrap!’ - 2025 Hey there, You know the drill, year-end recaps usually start with something like “How did the year pass so fast? Bla Bla..” This time around, we’re just happy and can’t wait to wave goodbye to an amazing year, even tho it’s the 2nd without a permanent home space. But don’t worry, 2026 is shaping up to be something Special! We can’t spill the beans yet, but let’s just say… something’s cookin’. Find the clue & Stay tuned. As the year comes to a close, we want to revisit our RIAA excursions throughout 2025, many of which we were lucky to share with you in person. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your support. We can’t wait to share more sound adventures with you in 2026. Stay curious. Big hug! Team R I A A __ MARKK Archive Sessions __ We kicked off 2025 in January with an extensive collaboration with the @markkhamburg . Over the course of four sessions this series focused on musical perspectives from Africa, diving deep into the museum’s impressive vinyl archive. Exploring the vast and diverse grooves of an entire continent and its diaspora. The sessions took place in various corners of the museum — including the Rauru House, a traditional meeting house built over 100 years ago on New Zealand’s North Island. Truly a one-of-a-kind setting. __ 'A Space Between' at the Elbphilharmonie__ In February, we packed up our big sound system and transformed part of the @elbphilharmonie into a listening room. Over 7 nights, we became part of the VISIONS Festival, hosting very distinct musical journeys with a stunning line up feat. our favourit local and international artists, DJs, and labels. Different from our Altona basement? Definitely, but thanks to you, our mission was very much alive: a shared space where music lovers from all walks of life can come together for listening, connecting, and getting lost in music. __ 'KISSA' Sessions at Teehaus__ Now in its third year, these sessions remain one of our favorite ways to connect with you — both indoors and outdoors, sunny or grey — at this beautiful venue. Gathering with you and our DJ guests who joined us throughout the year, we’re nothing but grateful for the trust and support.

Hello Insta-Fam… We wrapped things up in 2025 with our annual 'KISSA' Community Session, and as promised, you’ll find a link to the tracklist and all compiled in a Spotify playlist in the BIO. A few gems are missing, simply because they don’t exist online. One but very important thought! Yes.. we’ve created a playlist on Spotify. Yep, it’s super handy BUT please keep in mind, that none of the artists we celebrate and appreciate can earn their living from streaming alone. If you like a song please consider to buy the records, merch, subscribe their newsletter or see them live.

The RIAA Field Research Division took a short trip to London over the weekend to listen to the unique @d_s_p.london sound system, which can be experienced until February alongside @peterdoig ’s stunning paintings at the @serpentineuk Gallery. London is always a revelation. Great food, fantastic spaces, great record stores, hi-fi talks, and a vibrant city that is second to none. Once again, we saw old friends and made new ones through our shared love of music. And who would have thought that we would spontaneously see the wonderful Izumi Kobayashi live at @vdslondon ? Thanks for the invitation @scott_pllx . Shoutout to @jelly_records , John & Liam at @atlantis_records_hackney , @perfectlives_ for preserving German underground fanzines , @brilliant_cnrs for a great dance and Laurence for the insightful tech-talk. Hopefully we meet in music again soooon.

:: 27/11_THURSDAY | 19:00-21:00 :: 'MARKK Vinyl Session' RESIDENCY CLOSING curated by R I A A Hi folks, After three incredible nights inside the walls of the @markkhamburg , our RIAA residency is coming to an end and we’re wrapping it up with one last vinyl session next Thursday. For our final evening, we dove deep into the museum’s beautiful vinyl archive, pulling the records that have already cast their spell on us (and you) in past sessions, plus a whole wave of new discoveries waiting to shine. This time, we’ll travel across the African continent and its endless genres and rhythms: from the cosmic keyboards of Hany Mehanna - هاني مهنى in Cairo to the desert horns of Sorry Bamba in Mali; the twin voices of The Lijadu Sisters lighting up Lagos nights while Artur Nunes kept Luanda’s streets moving with revolutionary Semba. Down south, Movement In The City brought jazzy rebellion to Johannesburg, and Mahmoud Ahmed turned heartbreak into gold in Addis Ababa. The endless creativity reflected in this vinyl archive is simply stunning and we hope it continues to inspire music lovers for a long time to come. We’re beyond grateful for this deep dive into the archive — for all the discoveries, the sounds, and the incredible energy we shared with you in these unique museum spaces. Our final session will take place in the MARKK Zwischenraum, right next to the archive. As always, entry is free. We recommend coming early and take your time to wander through the museum’s exhibitions, it’s more than worth it. See you out there. Team R I A A

While some folks go Easter egg hunting, we go digging for rare vintage hi-fi gear. Spoiler alert… we struck gold. And the best part? Practically right around the corner. We’ve been on the lookout for a proper cinema sound system from the 1950s–60s for ages. And then fate stepped in: tucked away in the belly of the @ms.stubnitz tubnitz, we found exactly what we were looking for – a pair of old-school cinema baffles. Wild, right? These beauties had been sleeping quietly in the ship’s storage for over 10 years. So, you can imagine how thrilled we are that this piece of German audio history gets to stay right here in Hamburg – and hopefully soon, it’ll be filling the RIAA space with that warm, cinematic magic. Normally, stuff like this ends up in private collections overseas, especially in Japan or South Korea. Audiophile freaks over there figured out long ago how incredible these 60+ year-old systems sound. But this time, it stays with us and open to the public. Until we can share this audio dream with you, these old gems still need a lot of love. But once they’re restored to their former glory... oh boy. Just look at some of the photos – that’s how they shine in Japanese listening rooms. We’ll get there, with the help of the hands and knowledge of people who have taken on the old technology. Life is a team effort.. fingers crossed. Additional nerd facts for the curious among you, due to limited space, in the comment section. So yeah – we’re still chasing our dream of building the RIAA listening space here in Hamburg. And with these two finds, we’re one big step closer. Stay curious, Team RIAA

:: 24/04_THURSDAY | 18:30H | Sold Out! 'MARKK Vinyl Session' Part 2 curated by R I A A Hey friends, We couldn’t be more grateful for the continuing interest and support you have shown in our recent excursions, such as the temporary listening room 'A Space Between' at the @elbphilharmonie and the highly intense welcome of our 'KISSA' Session series at the immersive Teehaus last month. Probably one of our favorite moments of the entire RIAA journey was the session at Haus Rauru at @markkhamburg back in January. The space, the music, the atmosphere — everything came together and created a moment of unity. Moments like this, along with the overwhelming feedback from our community, led us to the conclusion that we want to relive this extraordinary experience once more before this part of the museum must close for renovations. That’s why we’re excited to host Part 2 of our Listening Session at Haus Rauru. The musical theme continues with another sonic exploration into the spiritual and meditative soundscapes of Africa — a deep listening session with less talk and more unheard, slow, and hypnotic grooves, sourced from MARKK’s incredible vinyl archive. We heard your feedback! To make sure, more of you got a chance to experience this special event, we‘ve split the evening into three one-hour listening sessions. For each session, we gave away 60 free tickets exclusively to our community members via our newsletter and Telegram channel, which were booked out in the blink of an eye. SORRY, everyone who couldn’t snatch a ticket this time. Dear Insta-fam, we told you it is worth subscribing to these channels! If you want to be the first to know about upcoming RIAA excursions, we highly recommend following us via these channels (link in bio). To all the lucky peeps, we can’t wait to see you next week. So. 16.02. | 21:30 - 01:00H 'A SPACE BETWEEN' CLOSING w/ Nico Palermo & Beju [R I A A] Let’s celebrate the past 7 days of outstanding music and the magic of listening to music together in such a special place within the Elphi building. Beju & Nico Palermo take it slow and play their current favorite jazz not jazz records from around the globe at the finale evening of this highly intense 'A Space Between' excursion. Big hug to all our RIAA regulars and artists for showing up and the trust in our mission to celebrate music and community. Without you there is only silence. And a warm welcome to all our new friends who never heard about the RIAA before. Every evening had at least one moment that amazed us how well you guys got along. That’s the power of music that can make us feel home where ever there is a record player. Last but not least. We like to thank the entire @elbphilharmonie team for all the support, hospitality and trust in our mission. You made us and our guests feel home. It’s more important than ever that our local culture scene sticks together, supports and elevate each other. From the underground club to the philharmonic. Each one fulfill a crucial part in the city. Especially in those absurd and crazy times atm. Music is the healing force of the universe - let’s cherish and support those places even though they might not play our favourite Jazz songs. At the end - we all meet in music. Therefore, please make sure to vote next weekend!! R I A A - build by music lovers for music lover
