Last night #Phizzfest was honoured to be joined by Sharon O’Meara for a personal reflection on the remarkable legacy of her great-grandfather - #Phibsborough resident Albert G. Power RHA, the leading sculptor of the Irish Free State. For over three decades, Power’s work shaped the country’s architectural, religious and political landscape through his distinctive public commissions. The evening also featured a contribution from Art Historian Síghle @BhreathnachLynch , author of ‘Expressions of Nationhood in Bronze and Stone: Albert G. Power RHA’, offering further insights into the artistic significance of Power’s life and work. 🙏 hosted in the Mater Hospital’s Pillar Room @rha.arts @materfoundation

Yulia Gasio Masterclass – Sat/Sun, 20/21 June This two-day masterclass invites painters to work directly with the moving figure through quick, time-based studies, bypassing preliminary sketching and entering immediately into paint. The focus is on seeing through colour—training the eye to register form, movement, and spatial rhythm as they emerge in real time. Working from live models, participants will explore the figure using limited palettes, including double primaries and secondary-based palettes. Each session emphasises speed, responsiveness, and clarity—allowing colour temperature, value, and edge to do the structural work traditionally carried by drawing. Yulia Gasio Masterclass Sat/Sun, 20/21 June Cost: €220 Apply at rhagallery.ie/events/masterclasses/yulia-gasio-painting-the-figure-in-motion-using-limited-palettes (link in bio). Applications close NEXT Mon 11th of May at 4pm. Image courtesy of Yulia Gasio

A cornerstone of Ireland’s cultural calendar, the RHA Annual Exhibition brings together Academy Members, invited artists, and those selected through the highly competitive open submission process. In 2026, a total of 4,890 artworks were submitted, with 435 works selected following two rigorous rounds of judging. The final exhibition spans all gallery spaces at the RHA, offering a comprehensive snapshot of contemporary artistic practice in Ireland and beyond. Leading Irish law firm McCann FitzGerald LLP continues its three-year title sponsorship of the exhibition, guided by its ‘Go Further, the Art of Potential’ proposition. This partnership reflects McCann FitzGerald’s commitment to supporting creativity, ambition and innovation across communities – values closely aligned with the RHA’s mission to champion artists at all stages of their careers.
