Earlier in the summer Joel and I connected to produce a script that’d been on his mind. It’s been a privilege to see it come through post-production and get ready for the festival circuit.
Selfishly, the production pendulum was really fun to swing on: going from a (relatively) large and complex film shoot with a crew of 30 last year to a single-location writer-director-actor script made by 4 people in an afternoon… It keeps you (me) limber. It also reminds you (me) that film isn’t any one thing, it is what you need (hope) it to be for any given project. Cue that one Béla Tarr quote.
Joel's script is equal parts funny, endearing, and pathetic. A beautiful trifecta. I hope you can see it soon.
Huge dry thunder clap from early last month. No rain - actually a sunny day which was spooky.
Threw my (relatively) crappy H1n recorder out on the back porch and was not prepared for Zeus to strike so it clipped hard. Luckily was able to salvage it in RX!
Made some amazing friends. Helped break a couple of Guinness world records. Battled fatigue based illness. And prepped an imperial boat load of mics.
To the Beast sound team and all of our American crew, Team Canada thanks you. 🇨🇦🇺🇸🦑
Well that was fun! Already missing everyone at OIART but hopefully I’ll get to catch you lot down the road.
Cheers graduates! And to the OIART staff, thank you for an unforgettable year.
