"One of the most exciting aspects of encaustic is how it can surprise you. The cold brush technique is a great example of this. Working directly on a panel with an almost cold brush allows the wax to behave in unexpected ways. Instead of smooth, fluid strokes, you’ll get broken lines, dry textures, and a sense of resistance between brush and surface.
The result? Marks and clusters that feel raw, organic, and often impossible to replicate intentionally."

R&F Drawing Oils : dessiner à l’huile, sans pinceaux ✍️🖼️
Créée en 1988 aux États-Unis, R&F Handmade Paints fabrique des couleurs très pigmentées avec des matières soigneusement sélectionnées et une vraie culture du fait-main. Les Drawing Oils sont des bâtonnets d’huile pensés pour le dessin et l’étude, faciles à emporter.
Le geste est direct, comme avec un pastel, mais la matière est de l’huile. La formule est plus ferme, comme un rouge à lèvres, ce qui donne un trait net et agréable, sur toutes les surfaces. Vous pouvez les travailler de plusieurs façons : les utiliser tels quels, les diluer avec une essence, les associer à des médiums et même les mélanger à de la peinture à l’huile en tube.

We often get asked about the difference between R&F Blending Medium and Cold Wax Medium.
R&F Blending Medium and Blending Sticks are pure linseed oil and natural wax. They are Pigment Sticks® without pigment.
Ideal for glazing colors, Blending Medium extends your paint. It can be used to increase transparency or to blend colors together on the surface.
Cold Wax Medium adds volume and can speed up drying time, but it can dull color, giving it a matte finish.
