I’m starting off Friday the 13th, with a new spooky release series I hope to do weekly for September & October. It’s my favorite time of year, I’m feeling a bit nostalgic and wanted to look back at some of the spookier title sequences I’ve had the pleasure of editing over the years. This is by far the sequence I’m most proud of.  When I first moved out to LA back in 2012, I had the opportunity to work at Prologue Films alongside Kyle Cooper and the talented team of artists there. During my first year, I assisted my editing mentor Nate Park on season two of American Horror Story: Asylum. A dream experience and role. The following year, I took what I learned from S2's process and transitioned into editing the titles for what ended up being my favorite season of the show, American Horror Story: Coven. Last fall, I started a SPOOKY SERIES that allowed me to reflect on past project haunts. I loved revisiting chapters of my career and seeing my growth as an editor. As November approaches, I’ve decided to start a GRATITUDE SERIES to reflect on projects that have shaped me as an artist. I begin with one of my proudest editing moments that resulted in my first ticketed Emmy nomination in 2020, “THE POLITICIAN.” Glimmers of gratitude: • Working with the powerhouse duo Heidi + Felix. They shepherded a community of artists who were free to be their unique selves and played outside the sandbox every day. • Discovering the wooden mannequin from set, placed around the Elastic office. Specifically, remembering the day our producer, Paul discovered an extra occupant in his office early one morning. • Auditioning over 30 different music options and finding so many gems that fit the mold. 2nd runner up being a cover of “Everyday” by Fiona Apple. Ultimately, the iconic Sufjan track “Chicago” won over Ryan + Alexis and became immortalized in all of our brain stems for eternity. • Warm liquid goo phase: seeing the simulations for our “goo”. Circling back to the title’s track, we found ourselves singing, “All Things Goo…All Thing Goo.” • Attending the first-ever virtual Emmys was a much-needed highlight during the darker pandemic days. Can you fall in love with a place - and a moment in time? And just like that, my dreamy trip to Portland and the Oregon Coast comes to an end. What began as a mother-daughter adventure to see the legendary Brandi Carlile (@brandicarlile ) on stage quickly unfolded into something even more special: days spent wandering through Portland’s wonderfully eclectic neighborhoods - nostalgic novelty shops, cozy coffee spots, reunions with old friends and colleagues, and quiet moments walking among waterfalls. Over the weekend, I ventured out on my own toward the Oregon Coast. Charming seaside towns, bookshops with resident feline greeters, fog-laced forest drives, winding roads hugging rushing rivers - and an overwhelming, peaceful sense of calm that seemed to follow me everywhere. It doesn’t feel right to document personal moments that have kept me afloat this month without acknowledging January’s collective undoing. In her 2024 concession speech, Kamala Harris closed with an adage: “Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars.” She acknowledged that many feared we were entering a dark time and said, “For the benefit of us all, I hope that is not the case. But America, if it is: let us fill the sky with the light of a billion brilliant stars.” Not long after, darkness did come - for our country and for the world. The start of 2026 has brought a heaviness that so many communities are carrying. We are collectively grieving: the horrors in Minnesota, the unlawful brutality of ICE targeting immigrants and our most vulnerable neighbors, and the relentless headlines that refuse to give us pause. And yet, even in this grief, this darkness, this rage, I have witnessed so much light. Our collective voices matter. Keep speaking up. Don’t stay silent. Keep calling your representatives. Consume and make art that moves you. Keep reading stories and listening to voices of the past. Hug your friends. “The grief that you feel, name it love.” Make “good trouble.” Keep finding, and becoming, the stars.

I’m always gonna want to make it move.” - Miley Cyrus ✨ Who knew a ballad from my youth (that felt so cheesy once upon a time) would resonate with me so strongly as an adult. Two years ago, if you had told me I would be climbing a mountain, willingly, for fun, I wouldn’t have believed you. The last two years have had their fair share of mental and physical mountains that I couldn’t have navigated without such amazing company. I have so many human gems and sources of light surrounding me. You know who you are ✨⚡️ Everything about this climb was a personal best.
