Little by little a situation emerges that is literally embodied. Furnishings, color, rooms, everyday activities appear to be enlarged from a superhuman whole. Visually, the film balances a necessary abstraction and distance. Because the three women who gradually emerge from the details have experienced a level of violence that the film does not want to inform about. Filmmaker Helin Çelik carefully and competently directs her questions to her protagonists. It's about her. The struggle for words and inner images can be experienced intensively. Touch and being touched. The overpowering narrative of trauma is noticeably rewritten - without revealing itself. A feat of strength. In the end one of the women will realize and say: 'I exist!'"

Last Saturday, ANQĀ won the best cinematography at @mirage_filmfestival I'm grateful to the festival for making it possible for Helin @he.celik , the author of the work (also nominated for direction), and me to be together in Oslo accompanying the film, and attentively listening and watching the reactions of the viewers who came to see Anqā. Anqa "the film" started the journey at the last Berlinale, now it will take @he.celik and me to the Istanbul Film Festival. It is and will be one of the most important life and work projects of my career. A way of doing things, a way of reaching stories, a way of resistance. Much remains to be done and we will continue to build films that allow us to peek into those hidden cruel realities. @he.celik see you in Istanbul.
