Sen. Ruben Gallego is urging the EPA and Energy Department to prepare emergency contingency plans as Phoenix-area gas prices top $4.63 a gallon, the highest since 2022, according to AAA.
In a letter obtained by The Arizona Republic, Gallego warned that Arizona's total dependence on out-of-state pipelines leaves the state vulnerable to supply shocks as global oil markets rattle from escalating conflict in the Middle East.
