The point at which a ‘project’ becomes a home is when we see aspirational interior design and build functionality working hard together, day after day. Often we are asked to remain involved once we hand over a project to manage ongoing aftercare and annual maintenance. This is when we begin to see a residence start to properly live and breathe in tune with the rhythm of daily life. Busy, prime residential clients with demanding schedules usually only fall in love with the work we do once they relax into their homes and appreciate the consideration that’s been given to how they, uniquely, live and work; how the kitchen is really used, whether the hallway and boot room are spacious and practical for everyone passing through, is there room on surfaces for personal things, somewhere to wash the dog, wall space for children’s paintings, a home office suite that has sound and light just right for working etc. All these things have to be engineered and blend into the magazine spread interior to make the outcome warm and personal. This stage - the one in which the owners step in and makes it theirs - isn’t officially on the works spreadsheet but it’s the place we start from, every time. #projectmanagement #primecentrallondon #primeresidential #attentiontodetail #revolutionprojects

Recently, Revolution Projects successfully completed a major services diversion project for Tata Chemicals Europe, involving the rerouting of critical infrastructure feeding one of Tata’s chemical plants. This diversion was essential in enabling a major UK housebuilder to unlock land for new homes in an increasingly demanding housing market. As we bring this project to completion, we’re reflecting on the scale of engineering and planning involved. The works included the diversion of multiple live services across a route exceeding 500 metres, all while ensuring minimal disruption to plant operations. One of the key challenges involved safely isolating and modifying existing pipework. Using a hydraulic squeeze-off system, the pipework was clamped and isolated before cutting commenced. This process prevented backwash from the extensive pipeline network, ensuring the excavation remained safe, controlled, and free from flooding — avoiding significant delays and additional vacuum excavation works. This is the level of problem-solving, engineering expertise, and project delivery that Revolution Projects brings to complex industrial, residential, and commercial schemes. The pressure on this project was significant, with the client relying on these lines to maintain operations at the plant. Any mistakes could have resulted in major operational and financial impacts. We’re proud to say the diversion is now fully operational, and the lines have been successfully handed back to the client. Understanding material selection, its behaviour under stress within a structure and how it will perform over time is an unseen strength when it comes to project management. This building in west London had good bones and some great original features. But it was a tired site, covered in asbestos sheeting and needed careful management. Stripping structural elements back, removing all cladding and teasing new life into the existing architecture made a solid canvas for these Critall windows. There’s a magic that happens when you bring industrial or commercial buildings into a new lifestyle reinvention. When both the vision and the reality are under big blue skies……Lots of optimism and energy for this new project with masses of potential and acres of space to breathe. We’re currently in the early design stages of this extensive barn conversion project and developing both the architectural and M&E design. The ambition is to transform the existing agricultural buildings into high-quality residential space while carefully retaining the character and structure of the original barns. The design focuses on preserving key features of existing form, structural elements and countryside aesthetic, while introducing modern layouts, improved natural light, and contemporary building services to create discreet and comfortable premium homes. Some design features in refurbishment projects are so good they don’t need changing, just restoring ( not to mention the cost advantage to the client of simply enhancing what’s there…). This elliptical skylight with its soft, curved form creates a striking architectural feature while drawing natural light deep into the property. Throughout the day, the light shifts and changes, giving the space a calm, almost gallery-like atmosphere. There’s nothing more certain than the sun will move around the sky above, so adding in art and lighting as we go to to complement what nature offers is what the job requires here. The value of quiet moments walking a project in the early stage is immense. When a property is stripped back, its recent refurbishment history is revealed and this often informs options going forward. And early access to the teams gives space and time for shared decision making, which can pull a project through tricky moments ahead. Hidden features of beauty and nooks and crannies of design opportunity are all revealed as the work begins. But most importantly, we can really drill down into our clients’ brief: as we walk together through an empty property new possibilities within the space always opens up conversation. A semi-subterranean tennis pavilion taking shape in Norfolk for a long-term client. This new structure involves extensive engineering, particularly within the rear retaining wall designed to support the surrounding earth and future living roof. With the main structural works now in place, the cast in situ and retaining wall formwork recently stripped, the project is progressing well and the shape of the pavilion is really starting to emerge.
