I’m tired of reposting shit. I feel like I’ve been living for years in a state of numb resignation, where with each new atrocity I have to choose between parroting some influencer or news outlet, or remaining silent because the influencers and news outlets didn’t articulate my opinion to my own satisfaction. Growing up during peak Facebook and having humiliated myself countless times engaging in spiteful infighting and futile “discourse” I’ve become wary of using social media politics as a form of self-righteous grandstanding. But sitting here today, unable to sleep, horrified by the onslaught of evil occurring today, I wanted to sit down and articulate my thoughts just as an exercise in having my own thoughts. Try to shake off a decade of social-media induced apathy and let life into my own head a bit. I’m not an expert. I’m not a theorist. Everything I said here is probably just a mishmash of something I read somewhere. But I hope getting comfortable with speaking for myself again on here instead of letting the algorithm do it for me will help me get ready to speak and think and act for myself in my community. Thank you to the good people of Minneapolis for reminding me that recognizing evil is basic citizenship.
