Meet your 2026 SA downhill champs. 🇿🇦
~
It’s been a while since I shot at a downhill race maybe 10years…. to be honest I was more intrigued to see what the track looked like since we filmed its build and opening a couple years back with @andrewneethling and @paarltrails .
Well, it’s held up pretty well, definitely way more compact and with some sniper rocks growing out of the ground it’s constantly evolving which is cool and makes subtle line choice and focused braking so important in nailing a great run. Huge props to the trail builders for keeping this gem of a DH track in race worthy condition.
What really blew me away is the level of all the riders from the juniors all the way up, it’s seriously impressive and I highly suggest that while we wait for the world cups to start, grab yourself a brolley and a bezza and head down to the next race, its awesome to watch.
Lastly- Massive congratulations to all the newly crowned SA champs.

I went with all intentions to test out a few new lenses and try some experimental stuff but quickly got drawn in to the old faithful manual fisheye, I had a lot of fun shooting today and with such a compact race format didn’t get the chance to move around so picked my spot and fired away. Managed to nail a couple lekker ones and pretty happy with the @_nikonsouthafrica Z6iii.

If you made it this far thanks 👊🏼
Now thats why they call it @capeepic
Unforgettable and outstanding performances from the 🇿🇦 riders taking the top spot in the Women’s and Mens GC.
This was my 10th Epic and also 10 years since the inception of @ciovita so it was a fitting weekend to create some magic at the cheer corner. I loved the vibe and being in one spot all day gave me the opportunity to get creative when id usually be chasing onto the next location.
Also got to test out the @_nikonsouthafrica Z6iii and was blown away by this little camera’s focus and image quality. Thanks @ormsdirect 👊🏼
A short but sweet Epic for me and one I wont forget anytime soon.
Well done to the entire crew, all the riders and spectators for making this a special one.
cheers
A moving postcard from a place I never thought I’d send one from. 🍎
Glass and steel stretching beyond reason, like the city forgot where the sky ends. Streets that echo something familiar, yet feel worlds apart, as if I’ve walked them before, just in another life, another hemisphere.
There’s a rhythm there… fast, loud, relentless, but underneath it, a quiet kind of wonder. The kind that lingers long after you’ve left.
This reel feels like a memory I didn’t plan to make, but somehow needed to.
Seeing this city through @caseyneistat ‘s videos and finally experiencing it for myself was surreal to say the least. I’ll be back big Apple.
With another goat retiring this week I thought it would be cool to put together some of my favorite shots with the DH Goat @gregminnaar on his home track at the start of the ‘24 season. Fresh on his @norcoracedivision rig to roll into his last season as a WC rider, now you will find him managing an A-class race team with a bit of cheeky modeling on the side for @foxmtb

These shots were part of the Swapping Lines series created by @stefangarlicki - where he travels around the world riding different home tracks with some incredible riders. Super stoked to of been part of this one. Check out his YT to see all the episodes in the series.

Shoutout to the crew for always “carrying on”

A video postcard

It’s not just a bike shop, it’s an institution, a place where friends gather and bicycles get given a second chance at life. The ethos of repair vs replace is one that is embedded in the framework of the shop.
Future projects, parts and everything in-between has its place and what might look like organized chaos to some was in-fact, organized chaos. But Nils knew exactly where everything was and the value that these bits and pieces have, its what made the essence of the place an exciting experience, with every visit there is always something new that you hadn’t seen before.
It was like this building grew bicycles.
When Nils mentioned to me that @woodstockcycleworks will be moving to a new home and he wanted to remember the Searle st shop as it was in all its glory I was super keen to tell that story.
So here it is, my ode to a wonderful bike shop, a visual postcard of the journey to where it is before they move to their new home.
Enjoy.
A week in Amsterdam documenting a conference on distributed systems.
Bicycles and slow shutter speeds had me in my comfortable space.
The last image in the carousel is a detector (think crazy camera with multiple processors) that detects the debris from the collision between subatomic particles within the Large Hadron Collider in Cern, Switzerland.
The takeaway from this talk was the amount of data that is generated there makes Google, Meta and all the steaming services combined look like a drop in the ocean. I thought video production had me up to my ears in hardrives, these guys are on another level.

Look at that, I learned something new on a shoot.

Great trip, great city, great people.
In a world where more and more things are being created in a digital space, sometimes by humans, sometimes not, it was really refreshing to document this project for @harlen_design - where things were being made by hand, and not just made, exquisitely crafted by @rawoodcraft . I had a fantastic time learning about the process and seeing the techniques that go into creating world class woodwork.
So keep your eyes peeled down under as there are some “lekker “ things coming soon. 🇿🇦🛠️🇦🇺
Some of my favorites from a trip up to Jozi to check out where the roadies go for their coffee rides.
One minute you’re under a lush canopy of trees and the next on safari. The Cradle is a special place to ride a bike 🦒

We took the all-new Mercedes-Benz Vito Mixto Select to Joburg’s favourite road cycling destination: the Cradle of Humankind. Epic scenery, quiet roads, great coffee and game sightings - this one delivered it all 🚴♂️🌄
