The polycarbonate pin-up panel presents our research findings, a series of explorations seeking a baseline for a more intelligent and hospitable built environment.
Kuwait’s architectural history is rich yet fragmented, with archives hidden behind closed gates and selective narratives shaping what is remembered. This absence often reduces architectural discourse to debates on aesthetics, form vs. function, while overlooking craftsmanship, material systems, regional exchanges, and the external pressures that shape our environment.
The panel reclaims overlooked fragments by reframing identity not as a static image but as an entanglement of histories, materials, and systems. It transforms them into tools for rethinking how we build and remember.

Material Survey:
The material fragments featured in the display were collected from several significant demolished sites, ranging from pre-oil construction to modern heritage buildings from the post-oil era. The selection criteria focused on the variety of construction systems, material properties, and qualities, rather than on the specific significance of each site. The study aims to extract construction knowledge from these demolished assemblies, rather than simply cataloging them as important lost sites. By understanding how these materials influenced space and architecture, we can reintroduce their sensibilities and efficiencies into our current construction landscape.
To minimize transportation challenges, the materials were brought to Venice by the curatorial team as part of their luggage.

What makes a museum? Is it its collection, building, audience, or the stories it chooses to tell? And how can these inquiries shape a national pavilion as an extension of a national museum?
The Kuwait National Pavilion reimagines the museum not as a static container of heritage, but as a temporary architecture of inquiry. Here, questions of authorship, authenticity, and cultural memory are unsettled rather than resolved.
The pavilion explores the body’s relationship to a showcase as a fundamental element in an object-forward museum experience.

The mutating simulacrum is a double-height, hand-drafted drawing that occupies the central space in the pavilion. This drawing is a 1:1 scale composite of lost construction techniques, rendered in ink directly on a plastic substrate.

برعاية معالي وزير الإعلام والثقافة ووزير الدولة لشؤون الشباب ورئيس المجلس الوطني للثقافة والفنون والاداب السيد عبدالرحمن بداح المطيري، افتتح الأمين العام للمجلس الوطني للثقافة والفنون والآداب الدكتور محمد خالد الجسار والأمين العام المساعد لقطاع الآثار والمتاحف بالتكليف السيد محمد بن رضا جناح دولة الكويت المشارك في بينالي البندقية التاسع عشر للعمارة ٢٠٢٥ بعنوان "كينونة" والذي يستمر حتى تاريخ ٢٣ / ١١ / ٢٠٢٥، وكان بحضور سعادة القنصل العام لدولة الكويت في ميلانو وشمال إيطاليا الشيخ جابر الدعيج الصباح والسيّد بشار العوضي المدير التنفيذي لشركة البترول الكويتية العالمية في ايطاليا ورؤساء وفود دول الخليج.
يُعيد جناح الكويت من خلال “كينونة” التصوّر كمجالٍ للبحث والاستكشاف، مستخدمًا العمارة كوسيلة لطرح تساؤلات حول الهوية والتاريخ والثقافة المادية. ومن خلال الرسومات التجريبية، والتركيبات المعمارية، والبحوث النقدية، يتجاوز الجناح القصص المعتادة ويحثّ على طرح الأسئلة من زوايا مختلفة، ليُبرز العمارة كوسيطٍ حيّ يعكس العلاقة المتغيرة للكويت مع ماضيها وحاضرها ومستقبلها.
لاقى الجناح نجاحاً باهرًا بسواعد كويتية شبابية من خلال الفريق:
