I don’t remember the actual moments when my family took portraits as a kid, but I’ll always remember the photos. I don’t remember who the photographer was, but I’m grateful those memories were captured. I’m sure these two kids will feel the same one day, and I’m thankful I got to be the one to capture these moments for their family. (For the second time!) 🙏

If you were to ask me what makes a picture a good picture, I’d say it’s more than just a nice outfit, pretty location, or fun colors. It’s about the expression on the subject and how they make you feel when looking at the picture. During this engagement shoot, my goal was to capture the connection between Joe and Givanna in every single photo, without it feeling too simple or staged. I wanted to show movement, love, laughter, and their undeniable connection. So thats what I did!

If you’ve seen my work before, you already know that I am a big fan of flash photography. When Godox reached out asking if I wanted to try their Godox V1 Mid, you know I was pumped to compare it to my regular Godox V1 and my AD200’s.
My two favorite things about this flash is that the light comes out very evenly, so you don’t have to spend extra time editing masks in Lightroom to make the light output look even. (I hate having to do that!!) I also love how the light feels more white and less warm than other flashes. Even the modeling light is white versus yellow on the standard Godox V1. Quality gear!
Also, give it up for Raymond who looked incredible in every shot.

Love looks good in 24fps. 🎥 I can’t help myself to not film for a couple of seconds during an engagement shoot. I always think every couple looks like a movie when we’re taking pictures, so why shouldn’t I make a little movie out of it?? Like of course I love taking a good photo, but I also appreciate a quality video, too!

Angie + Joe won our couples photoshoot + hair-styling giveaway and their engagement photos in Asbury Park, New Jersey went OFF! 🤍 We came up with a clear concept for this engagement session: to create Pinterest-inspired images with a Vogue feel that still let the love come through.
Due to hitting some traffic, a stop at Soul Ties Salon in Wall Township, NJ, and the drive into Asbury Park, we ended up starting later than planned. Because of that, we leaned more into flash with the help of my Godox V1 Mid, which ended up adding a really strong vibe to the final gallery.
Angie requested a 90’s-inspired blowout, and Jenna definitely delivered on it. At the end of the night, we all walked away with a smile. It’s amazing how the Internet can bring so many different people together. 🌎
