RESINA, a dialog between INA architectural practice and RESI Bender’s atelier, creating textiles inspired by the Greek archipelago while giving a new life to vintage fabrics.
This curtain was made by RESI for INA’s architecture office space. The piece enriches orthogonal forms by tracing the feminine curve of the Aegean coast weaving connections between practices, shapes, and places.
RESI Bender composes curtains from fabrics that emanate from previous productions, vintage clothing, as well as dead- and over-stock archives.
RESI Bender’s love for intricate combinations of transparency, textures and colors draws a resemblance to stained glass traditions. Her curtain's allow light to enter and exit the space, playfully changing the appearance of the piece throughout the day.
INA - meaning thread in Greek - draws on the curve of the feminine body, echoing the undulating contours of the natural landscape.
INA is an architecture practice based in Athens, working primarily within the Greek archipelago and the Aegean Sea.
“Work on good prose has three stages: a musical one when it is composed, an architectonic one when it is built, and a textile one when it is woven.”

NUDE IN LEATHER
The nude study in leather is a one of a kind, rather different from my usual work. An experiment with tiny leather bits and pieces left-over from a collection I was working on in 2017. I love this work but never produced a series of them, it’s somehow a continuation of my joy for nude drawing, the only nude I have ever drawn in leather.

LACE T-SHIRT CORSET
Working with and for the voguing scene here in Athens introduced me to corset making. A skill I have been flirting with for a while. I find the complexity of its structure fascinating; all the tailoring details, the layering, the boning, the binding, finding the perfect fit for each body, finding the shapes to emphasize, making the pattern and finally the finishing touches. It’s a beautiful journey.
While learning to make corsets I added some of the mock-ups to my wardrobe. I rarely feel like wearing a corset just by itself, I usually style them down by wearing oversized t-shirts, suit-shirts, lace tops or mesh long sleeves underneath. This is how the idea of my new capsule collection arose. Here a glimpse into the making of. Each piece is an one-off, a sketch of how to combine all those elements: 2nd hand t-shirts, dead-stock zippers, vintage and over-stock lace from the theaters, binding elements and boning.
All pieces will be available on Wednesday, 8th of April at the @efesouhouse for the GREAT WEDNESDAY POP UP curated by @rizom_athens and @st.narcissus.parfum
Pampiraiki
(A Refugee and Immigrant Support Initiative)
Pampiraiki supports refugees in Athens and wider Greece with materials, food, clothes and other supplies they need. They aspire to help refugees to integrate into society, offering educational programs, language classes and other vocational training for children as well as for adults. They endeavor to help other humanitarian initiatives with logistics like transport of goods around Greece, providing them material or facilitating donations and materials for their work.
From 2015-2019 Pampiraiki used the former Olympic basketball stadium - in a hangar of the old Ellinikon airport - as their logistics center for donations where they would sort goods and distribute them to the camps and squats all over Greece.
When I volunteered for them in 2018, I helped to sort through giant piles of garments and shoes to remove dirty, destroyed, or impractical pieces. This costume is a souvenir from this moment made from discarded garments.

OKO DJ - Live performance
Creating a costume that finds a balance between sci-fi warrior and sound priestess, grounded but ethereal, allowing physical movement and her playing of instruments was such a fun journey. Through draping and drawing I got to the final design, a hyper-adorned work-wear uniform topped with a transparent silky ruffled cloud. Happy to share some of our studio moments with OKO finding and sharing the shapes, materials, tailoring techniques and garment elements.
