#mindblown ! 352 #animals were saved this past month…352 animals less in the shelter system and resting comfortably with rescues, fosters, and some in their forever homes. 352 reasons for why we do what we do. #memorymonday - last week, Rachel drove this sweet #senior mama from @chianimalcareandcontrol to @bigdogsdontcryrescue in #indiana ! This sweet girl is looking for a place to spend her #goldenyears relaxing, being pampered, and eating #cookies ! This cutie went from @anticruelty to @heartlandsmallanimalrescue today! Rachel took him to see some sights in #chicago before he took a #ride with our Saturday #transport driver. #yesterday @yogaahava went to #celebrate her fav #dogmom friends! Of course we #shoplocal and headed to @eco.wilde who was out of flowers (yay)! So we got some @fresacreative candles! And Paulie the shop cat was a #highlight for sure! We love @oakparkil

From our founder… My relationship with Mother’s Day has always been complicated. Starting with my own mother who is a woman a challenged beyond words throughout my childhood from locking her and my babysitter on the porch, pulling a tv on myself, and a teenage with a mouth of fire. With so much gratitude, she taught me resilience and care of others. Our relationship has bloomed into her there literally holding me up for my lowest lows and celebrating my highest highs and always “letting me do my thing and learn and grow”. I know today and always she is missing her mama so today I celebrate both mothers on and off earth. As a nurse, I’ve celebrated so many in a maternal role whether birth, adoption, foster care, aunt, family friend, and everything between. You are seen and loved. If you asked me as a young adult, I wanted six kids, slowly that number went further down and down. After recognizing significant mental health struggles, I made a decision human children in a full time form were not for me. This was a hard reality and had many mournful Mother’s Days in processing that. Giving love to all those that have either chosen not to have kids or have been unable. Through a lot of reflection, I realize my goal is to leave this world a better place. Through my pets, through my community, through being the coolest spunky aunt. So proud to be someone inspired by so many mothers of all beings. To those with heavy hearts, you are seen and valued. To those with estranged relationships with a mother, you are valid. Our board and volunteers are hopeful this Mother’s Day is filled for you with whatever you need.

Rachel named her Genie, cause of Eugene Levy and his #eyebrows . While she was waiting for the #train , a young boy was telling his mom he saw ducks…they were pigeons. 😂 Genie settled in and made her way to @deebys_rescue to get pampered and #loved on. ❤️ #drivingyourfuturebestfriend #chicago
