Congrats to Rerouted athlete @erikaosberg for knocking more than 4 minutes off her 5k time over the past 3 months, (that’s 1:17/mile) 😳 . Pic #1: Today at Carlsbad 5000 5k race! . . . Pic #2: Feb 24 (day one of training)- 5k Time Trial @ 8:57 pace . After this trial, we did nothing but easy runs (slower than what she was used to) for 8 weeks and went heavy on the strength. . . . Pic #3: April 15 - 5k Time Trial @ 8:04 pace . This time trial concluded our base building block. Notice, she knocked off 53 seconds/mile just by running slow and incorporating more strength. From here, we started to work in short distance speed training. . . . Pic #4: May 22 - 5k Race @ 7:40 pace (official results) . Today’s 5k race was the result of 3 months of hard, focused, and specific prep to get her in a great spot to begin NYC Marathon training in a few weeks. This couldn’t have been done without her dedication, undying excitement, and trust in the work. Lfgggggg Erika 🤩🤩🤩

I haven’t posted here in 6 months 🤯 But that’s because there’s been a lot of hard work being done - PRs have been crushed, newer runners have found heightened versions of themselves, and there’s been a lot of growth in the Rerouted community overall. Last year, 40+ athletes have come in through these doors and I’m so freakin proud and inspired by the work they’ve done, the foundation of fitness they’ve laid, and the inspiration that they’ve brought to me, their own communities, and hopefully themselves. Thank you to everyone that supported this vision along the way, I can’t thank you enough for making this dream come to fruition with me. Congrats to all Rerouted athletes both former and current. Don’t stop setting higher goals and working your ass off to get there. Let’s do this thing all over again in 2022 🤩

On to my fourth week of marathon training! Things I’ve learned to far this training cycle: ā˜šŸ½It’s okay to be flexible and adjust the times/content of your training runs and cross training as long as it makes sense in your program and is going to set you up for success in the long term! ā˜šŸ½Coming up with mental strategies for yourself is EVERYTHING. Think about 3-4 ways you can distract your mind when things start to get hard or mantras you can repeat to yourself. My favorites lately have been thoroughly thinking through the things that I’m going to do after my run and thinking about the accomplishment I want to FEEL after it’s over ā˜šŸ½Getting enough sleep (a quality 8-9 hours) the night before a long run makes a huge difference for me - prioritizing rest is something I struggle with, but I can see the results when I make myself sleep more ā˜šŸ½Pre-run fuel - making sure I’m hydrated AF before a hard effort and also if I’m even a little bit hungry, I’ll have a peanut butter toast before a long run or speed workout. Having enough energy to make it through the end of a workout feeling strong starts with proper nutrition Excited to see what comes next āļø

Thoughts from this mornings run: if you want something to change, you have to change it. It’s not just going to magically happen because you’ve been thinking about it. šŸ’ØIf you want to get faster, you have to run faster. šŸ“†If you want to run more consistently, you need a plan. šŸ‘ŸIf you want to run further, you have to push through discomfort. šŸŒ…If you want to become a morning runner, you have to wake up earlier. šŸ§šŸ½ā€ā™€ļøIf you want to make more running friends, you have to seek out a community. Everything is possible, but you have to put in the hard work. There are no shortcuts to making your dream come true.
