ICYMI – In Case You Missed It – Repurpose It on Garden Gurus What happens to the materials that come from your FOGO (Food Organics Garden Organics) bins once they’ve been treated, screened, pasteurised, matured and tested? They end up in award winning gardens like @jamiedurie at the @melbflowershow (MIFGS)! We were delighted to showcase the array of materials that our resource recovery facilities process and highlight the importance of our quality control process. Watch here as Jamie Durie and our own Thom Fox talk to @thegardengurus host, @cochrane.trevor , about the positive impact having sustainability at the forefront of MIFGS has on community understanding and engagement.

Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show Wrap-Up What a mammoth month of March it’s been! Repurpose It was one of the primary sustainability partners of this year’s @melbflowershow Our own garden was centred around showcasing the FOGO journey, bringing our education program to life for thousands of visitors to see. The concept from pen and paper to the tangible was made possible by the extraordinary garden visionary, Dan from @danscrepes We’re proud to have had significant touchpoints across multiple award-winning gardens this year including @ratio.consultants , @timelessoutdoors , @oliveragardendesign , @calibre_gardens , @valleycareinc , @yvwater , @melbpoly , and @instyle_gardens and their incredible showcases. Equally as special are the stories and processes that bookend the five-day show, the bump-in and bump-out procedures. As one of the primary sustainability partners across the show, we bulk delivered literal tonnes of organic bark, mulch and soil materials across the garden with the longer-term vision of having that organic material return to our sites for recovery. This is by no means a small feat. The team communicated and supported landscapers, labourers, visitors, gardeners and contractors either through deliveries or on the tools, about the importance of source separation. This approach ensured the most amount of material could be recovered with the minimal precious resources heading to landfill. To say nothing of the actual show itself, Repurpose It had community facing presence across the five days and four nights of the show. This included multiple news and media pieces to camera, co-hosting public panels, industry night events and our very own special twilight event with our esteemed partners celebrating not just Repurpose It’s engagement in the landscaping and design space but also Bark King’s historic fifty plus years of operation. A huge shoutout and celebration also goes to our good friends and all round tremendous PR firm, @flourish_pr for capturing everything from @jamiedurie and his award-winning garden, to our bump out and clean up!

🌱🪱 Our Pre-Kinder and Kinder children at Where we Grow Craigieburn enjoyed a wonderful sustainability incursion with Mr Thom from the Repurpose-It Education Program. 💙🤍✨Through hands-on exploration, the children learned all about worms, composting, and how food scraps can be recycled to help care for our environment. ♻️ They loved observing the worm farm, recognising familiar food scraps like banana peels and herbs from our garden, and many even bravely held the worms! 🐛👏 With stories, discussion, and the catchy rhyme “Things you eat, things you grow, pop them in your FOGO!”, the children are beginning to understand how small actions can make a big difference for our planet. 🌍💚 #Sustainability #EarlyLearning #WhereweGrow #Craigieburn #Childcare
