🏆We’re proud to celebrate the recognition of the League of Resident Theatres with a 2026 Special Tony Award! 🎭
As the only LORT theatre in the region, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis is connected to a national network of 82 of the most respected professional theatres in the country. That affiliation helps bring world-class artists, ambitious productions, and groundbreaking new work to St. Louis — while ensuring our city remains part of the larger conversation shaping the future of American theatre.
LORT theatres are where many new plays are developed, where artists build lasting careers, and where stories begin long before they reach Broadway stages. For 60 years, LORT has championed artistic excellence, collaboration, and the belief that great theatre belongs in every community.
We’re honored to represent St. Louis within this extraordinary network and to celebrate the lasting impact regional theatre has on audiences across the country. 👏

We’re thrilled to be a founding partner in World Builders—a bold new initiative designed to reshape how new musicals are developed. Created by Andrew Lippa and Matt Webster, this program supports the next generation of musical theatre storytellers through a unique three-step pipeline: university, regional theatre, and Off-Broadway.
As part of this exciting collaboration, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis will help bring new, youth-centered stories to life—championing innovative voices and building a stronger future for American musical theatre.
New work. New voices. New possibilities. Let’s build something extraordinary. ✨

This shop has always been supportive of each other. Collaborative. We don’t really have any qualms about asking somebody “what do you think of this?” or, “If you were me, what would you do?”. And we work together, support one another, which is great. Some costume shops aren’t like that.
And all departments support one another. Without us they’d be naked, but without the scenic people they’d be on a bare stage. The collaborative part of it is something I’ve always enjoyed. It’s not just us. It’s everybody working together. And when that really happens, it’s pretty magical. It really is. When everybody’s on the same page, it’s an amazing thing – It’s fun, and it’s something to be proud of. (3/3)

It’s a slow process. You know what they say about how to get to Carnegie Hall – it’s the practice. It’s just the doing. It’s learning the fine motor skills, and how to make a beautiful hand hem. It takes some practice, just like any other hand-work skill. If you make a point of trying to learn new things all the time, which good drapers do, you just grow. It’s a matter of learning from people that are older and know more than you do and building on that. Having Bob Trump across the room from me for many years and just brainstorming about stuff together was a fabulous resource. He’s always a fabulous resource.
What’s kept my interest all these years is the challenge – how do you make this cape? How do you make this gown? And what goes under the gown? And how to make it do what it needs to do. The actor has to be able to move in it, but the designer wants it to look a certain way.
All the days are different. Some of them are stressful. Some of them are easy peasy. Sometimes I start my day with a cup of coffee and some days I jump right into the project from the night before because I have a 10 o’clock fitting and we have an hour to finish it. They’re all different – am I drafting today? Am I cutting today? Do I have two stitchers who need a project before they get here? They’re all different – I can’t describe a single day. So that’s what makes our jobs interesting, too. Every day is a little bit different. (2/3)
