2025 highlight: my 1985 FB RX-7.
She was my One Piece, something to chase, something to study, something that kept me going.
This is my first running project car, my first rotary, and my first manual. I always wanted a rotary, but everyone jumps straight to the FC or FD. Cool cars, sure, but I’m tired of hearing it. Hardly anyone gives flowers to the good ol’ FB. The lightweight, analog, carb’d, no-nonsense RX-7 that started it all.
Owning her was intimidating at first. But once I got my hands dirty, the engineering just clicked. Mazda really built something special here.
I still can’t believe I daily-learned manual in 100+ degree heat just to get seat time. And yeah, it’s been a roller coaster:
clutch failure, oil leaks, dead oil pressure gauge, carb out of tune, spark issues everywhere, filthy engine bay, snapped alternator belt, blown oil cooler O-rings, and that’s not even the full list.
But I’m not mad. And I’m definitely not quitting.
This car genuinely saved my life. It gave me purpose. Nothing beats the smile I get knowing she lives at high RPMs, and I get to experience that with her.
I’m trying my hardest to keep her mostly stock since she’s complete, but let’s be honest, I can’t help making her a little special. I can’t thank my partner in life
@feintfeel for guiding me and helping me work on my own rotary rocket!
We’ll see where 2026 takes us, but she’s not going anywhere.
So do me a favor, buy your neighbor’s forgotten backyard FB and give it life😁😁😁
One of the videos I have posted was my very first FB that was able to start with some starter fluid.
