In a moment that is testing me, I’m lucky to have these women standing with me in the fight for accountability from this administration.
I spoke with @marieclairemag about why I’m not backing down—and how it’s easier to stand up with my fellow congresswomen by my side.
Protecting people is my job. No one—not this administration, not ICE—will keep me from doing it.
I sat down with @newyorkermag to talk about why I’m not backing down in the face of political intimidation.
I’m overjoyed to be expecting a baby this fall. No matter what the world brings, I will keep living my life and doing this job I love.
We bring great humans into this world to change it. ❤️
First-term congresswoman LaMonica McIver is facing 17 years in federal prison, and she just announced she’s pregnant.
Last week, Marie Claire published the story of the women rallying together to support Rep. McIver as she fights for her freedom. In the groundbreaking piece, we gathered more sitting congresswomen than have ever been assembled for a single magazine feature—including @aoc , @ilhanmn , @speakerpelosi , and more—to paint a portrait of the sisterhood that has formed in trying times.
With McIver’s case looming and a baby on the way, she tells Marie Claire: “I believe things can be better and, as hard as that seems with the way the administration is targeting me, nothing will steal my hope about the good we can do for people.”

ICE is not the private army of any president or administration. They are federal law enforcement meant to work for and be accountable to the American people.
Nothing should be happening inside an ICE facility that would require secrecy or concealment from the American people.
@replamonica , @repmenendez and I introduced the No Delay for Immigration Oversight Act to prevent ICE from lawlessly operating in the cover of darkness.
Today, I joined @repbonnie and @repmenendez to make one thing clear: We will expose all abuses ICE is trying to keep in the dark.
Trump’s admin is trying to block oversight and intimidate critics. Our new bill protects the right to hold ICE and private contractors accountable.
Last year, ICE tried to keep me from exposing their inhumane behavior. And since then, their atrocities have only gotten worse.
Today, I introduced a bill to reaffirm your right to have someone hold Trump and DHS accountable.
Oversight is how we keep people’s rights and dignity from being taken away by this cruel administration. ICE can’t operate in the dark—we won’t let them. That’s why, a year after Delaney Hall, I’m introducing the No Delay for Immigration Oversight Act.
