While major legislation often grabs the headlines, one of the most rewarding parts of serving as your Representative is taking great ideas from people across our District and turning them into meaningful policy.
This week, I was proud to host Denise Formolo and fellow County Veteran Service Officers (VSOs) in our Washington, D.C. office to discuss ways we can better serve our Veterans.
A few years ago, Denise brought a gap in Veteran burial benefits to our attention - and by working together, we were able to turn that idea into action with the passage of Gerald’s Law.
Now we are working to make that policy permanent and find more ways to ensure our Veterans get the care and benefits they deserve.
@repjackbergman ’s VA Fiscal Management Modernization Act would strengthen financial oversight and prevent budget failures such as the VA budget short during the Biden administration in 2024.
Veterans and taxpayers deserve financial transparency and accountability.
It’s been more than 25 years since VA last updated its procurement and contracting framework even though these authorities shape how VA purchases lifesaving medical technology.
@repjackbergman is working hard to make sure VA’s contracting practices put veteran patients first. 👇
Peace through strength! 🇺🇸
I was proud to join President Trump in the Oval Office as he signed the FY2026 National Defense Authorization Act into law.
This legislation delivers pay raises for our troops, funds PFAS cleanup, supports Camp Grayling and Northern Strike, and ensures America’s warfighters remain the most prepared and lethal force in the world.
Happy Veterans Day!
It was an honor to stand alongside fellow Veterans in downtown Gaylord this morning before heading back to DC.
To all who have proudly worn our Nation’s uniform - thank you for our freedom and for continuing to inspire service and strength.
On this 250th Birthday of the fiercest fighting force in history, let us stay focused on being Marines - on being warfighters - and on always being ready to fight in defense of the American people and our allies.
Happy 250th Birthday, Marines. Semper Fi. 🇺🇸
It’s simple: Congress throws shutdown tantrums because there are no consequences. That has to stop.
I joined @repralphnorman and introduced legislation that says if Members shut down the government, they don’t get paid - and they don’t get back pay either.
This afternoon, the world watched one of the leading forces of conservatism and free speech get assassinated. Charlie Kirk articulated conservative views to younger generations clearer than anyone.
Solving political differences through violence has no place in our Nation, and these instances are becoming far too frequent. We must do better.
Those of us who value free speech and conservative values vow to carry Charlie’s torch and pass it on for generations to come.
Our prayers are with the entire Kirk family, his friends, and all those he impacted throughout his life.
Today, I had the distinct honor of hand-delivering a letter from President @realdonaldtrump to fellow Marine Corps Veteran and local hero, Derrick Perry.
While Derrick doesn’t seek the spotlight, his service and sacrifice embody the very best of our Nation, and he is truly deserving of the recognition.
It was an honor to have breakfast with both he and Katrina and talk about life, the Marine Corps, service, and most importantly - his poise and proactive response against the senseless stabbing at the Traverse City Walmart.
President Trump said it best:
“There is no doubt that you have maintained your track record of selfless heroism as a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. The values you learned during your time in the military have certainly translated to your civilian life as you continue to protect and defend the American people.
“Your unwavering leadership has ensured mission success and represented the very best of our great Nation.”
It was great to meet with such passionate and engaged young people with the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America. I’ll continue to work with my colleagues to get deadly fentanyl off our streets and ensure our communities are safe and healthy.
Today, we remember the 6 million Jewish lives lost in the most horrific display of hate that our world has ever seen. We vow to stomp out the embers of antisemitism anywhere they appear and we stand with the Jewish people to say “never again.”
With a renewed Republican Majority in the House and Senate and with President Trump at the helm in the White House, we have a great opportunity to get our Nation back on track. If we do not get our government’s spending addiction under control, then within a generation, we will not have a Nation to fund. As a member of the Budget Committee, I’ll continue to focus on cutting wasteful spending and laying the groundwork for a more fiscally responsible and economically prosperous golden age of America.
