Hospitals and health systems must take on racial bias in medical care with the same urgency as legislators. During Black Maternal Health Week, we had impactful conversations with experts and advocates about the severity of the Black maternal health crisis and how we can move toward a better future.
Thank you to Mercedes and Leon Wells for joining us at the Capitol for Black Maternal Health Week, and for sharing your story so that more people are aware of the extreme circumstances Black women can face in our medical system.
We’ve seen too many antisemitic incidents in our nation recently, and this Jewish American Heritage Month, I’m making it clear: this kind of hate has no home here. Our Jewish neighbors contribute to Delaware County’s culture and welcoming atmosphere every day – and I am proud so many Jewish families call our Delco home.
May is Maternal Mental Health Month. This month, we are continuing to raise awareness about perinatal mental health disorders.
We know that 98% of maternal deaths are preventable and the primary drivers of maternal mortality in our Commonwealth are mental health and substance use disorders.
Our second #PAMOMNIBUS bill to pass focused on educating moms and families about maternal mental health and we will continue this work as we head into budget season.
If you need help, you can call 211 or 1-833-TLC MAMA. To learn more about what we are doing in Pennsylvania, comment BMH and we will send you the Healthy Moms, Vibrant Futures report.

It’s National Police Week! I’m grateful for the dedicated officers of the @Upper Darby Police Department, @Lansdowne Boro Police, and @East Lansdowne Police for everything they do for our community!
It’s Mental Health Awareness month, and at a time when it seems like the news is always negative, I wanted to take time to remind you: mental health is just as important as your physical health. Prioritizing wellbeing is essential, especially when times are tough.
Schedule time for your favorite activities, for talking with friends, and don’t be afraid to be vulnerable sometimes.
And if you or someone you know is in crisis, please call 988 at any time of day or night – a trained volunteer will be able to help you.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to have traveled to Germany this past March as part of the 2026 International Study Group, a collaboration between the PSBA Institute and the American Council on Germany.
Recently, we had the honor of hosting a group of educators and administrators from North Rhine–Westphalia here at the Capitol!
