Today, I wrapped up my day with a great conversation with the Iowa National Guard Association. These brave men and women selflessly serve our country and defend our freedoms. I appreciated the opportunity to discuss how we can continue strengthening benefits and supporting their families while they are deployed. I remain committed to ensuring our men and women in uniform have a strong voice in Washington.

We had a great conversation about improving healthcare infrastructure, cracking down on Medicare fraud, and strengthening access to care for Iowans. I appreciate them taking the time to stop by, and I look forward to working on these issues.

Today, I had a great conversation with Fuel Iowa about the House passage of year-round, nationwide E-15 and the importance of lowering gas prices for working families. As a strong advocate for this critical legislation, I’m grateful for the partnership and leadership of groups like Fuel Iowa, whose strong support helped us pass this commonsense solution.

Today, during National Police Week, I had a great meeting with the Iowa State Police Association. We had a productive conversation about recruiting the next generation of law enforcement officers, expanding mental health resources, and strengthening benefits for the men and women in blue. I will always stand with our law enforcement officers, who work every day to keep Iowa communities safe.

Moments ago, I voted to pass year-round, nationwide E-15 for the first time ever. The passage of this bill means: lower prices at the pump, expanded markets, and unleashed American energy. I was honored to be a leader and champion for this legislation. Our work is not finished, and I will keep working closely with my colleagues to get it across the finish line.

Gridlock in D.C. has prevented the passage of E-15 for over a decade, and finally we’re taking action. It’s simple: year-round, nationwide E-15 means lower costs for working families, expanded markets for farmers, and American energy independence. After months of negotiation and listening to the voices of all our stakeholders, it’s time to get this bill done.

Today, I had a great time speaking with the Iowa Firefighters Association. We had a productive conversation about how we can best support our first responders. As a former volunteer EMT for 15 years, I know firsthand how these brave men and women put their lives on the line to protect our communities, and it’s essential that we support them.

Today, I had a great time meeting with the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance during their annual fly-in. We had a productive conversation about lowering costs through affordable and efficient transportation infrastructure, strengthening trade opportunities, and supporting Iowa farmers and businesses. Hearing directly from Iowans is essential and I appreciate them for taking the time to stop by.

The 4th District Military Academy Day was hosted by my office yesterday evening at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge. Students and parents in attendance heard from representatives of the five U.S. Service Academies and learned about the congressional academy application process. If you are a student interested in attending one of our nation’s military academies, contact my Fort Dodge office to learn more.

This week is National Police Week, a time to recognize the service, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment of the brave men and women in blue who work every day to protect our communities and uphold the rule of law. These officers put their lives on the line every time they wear the badge. Strong communities depend on safe streets, and we must continue standing with law enforcement and ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to keep our families safe.

Today, my District Director, Abby, had the privilege of attending the Council Bluffs Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee’s Spring Cook-Off. Each year, this event raises scholarship funds for the next generation of Iowans pursuing degrees in agriculture. It’s important that we continue to support and invest in the future of Iowa agriculture and the young innovators and farmers who will lead it forward.
