After the elections on last week, one thing is clear: we cannot afford to wait.
Reform UK’s gains are a serious warning. They are trying to turn anger over the cost-of-living crisis, collapsing services and political failure into racism, Islamophobia and hatred towards migrants and refugees.
And they are not operating in isolation. Their success gives confidence to the wider far right—including Tommy Robinson and the racist street movement he is trying to build.
But there is another side to this story.
Over the last few weeks, Stand Up to Racism supporters have been out across Britain challenging Reform and the far right:
💥 800,000 Stop Reform leaflets distributed 💥 120,000 Don’t Vote Reform newspapers circulated 💥 Campaigning in towns and cities across the country
In the huge East Swansea / Neath & Brecon constituency — where SUTR simply didn’t have the numbers to campaign heavily against Reform — they won 3 seats.
But in West Swansea, where more than 40 anti-racists got organised, delivered 13,000 leaflets and took the argument onto the streets, Reform only won 2 seats. In fact, it looks like just a couple of hundred votes separated them from taking a 6th seat.
That suggests our campaigning really may have made a difference. No surprise Plaid have thanked anti-racist campaigners for the effort.
The lesson? Campaigning works. Conversations matter. Leaflets matter. Gigs matter. Getting organised matters.
Get involved! We have taken the anti-racist argument into communities and shown that Reform can be challenged.
Now we have to go further.

Pub Culture, Hairdye, Manual Fail and flatcat proved again that grassroots music scenes are louder, kinder and far more alive than the miserable politics creeping round some parts of Wales right now.
