Today, I took the first step towards Kristi Noem's impeachment, and called on the Judiciary Committee to open an investigation into her lawlessness.
The American people will have justice and we will hold Noem accountable. I’ll make sure of it.
Since April 8, I’ve been demanding Noem’s immediate resignation.Â
Â
If she doesn’t, I am ready to take further action against her abuses of power.
Every death at the hands of ICE, every family separated by ICE, every orphan created by ICE is Kristi Noem’s responsibility. She must come to the committee and account for ICE's unlawfulness.
This morning, I hosted a shadow hearing with @repsylviagarcia on how the Trump administration's rapid expansion of 287(g) agreements to deputize local law enforcement for its mass deportation agenda is harming our communities.
Thank you to all the panelists, members of Congress, and guests who joined us. We must keep fighting like heaven and hell in Congress, in the courts ,and in the streets to protect our communities.
Fascism always requires a public enemy.
With the subpoena of Chicago Public School leadership, Republicans have set their sights on our schools.
Schools are meant to be sanctuary spaces for our young people – including those of the LGBTQI+ community – to dream, grow, and realize their full potential. We won’t betray the fundamental belief that every child is precious and deserving of dignity, love, care, and opportunity.
Thanks to everyone who joined us at last week’s in-person town hall in Portage Park!
Â
Being in community and hearing from you is essential to the work I’m doing to represent you in Congress. I will continue fighting for every single thing working families need to thrive.
I introduced the Renewed Mandate for Human Rights, a resolution to designate a United States Human Rights Commission and affirm our commitment to upholding universal human rights and dignity.
Our rights and freedoms are not negotiable. We must work to dismantle systems of oppression and prioritize the human rights and liberation of all people.

Through sanctions and unlawful threats of military action, the Trump administration is deepening the humanitarian crisis in Cuba. At the same time, they are once again threatening to use the Guantanamo Base, a prison with a history of dehumanizing and abusing people, to detain Cuban immigrants.
I led 31 of my colleagues to demand an end to the Trump administration's unlawful plans in Cuba.

"Frankly, I think it's going to lead to worse outcomes for the most vulnerable of our veterans." - @repdeliaramirez
Forcing veterans into guardianships isn't the solution. We must instead ensure veterans have access to the treatment, housing, and services they deserve.
Warmongers, authoritarians, despots, and oligarchs want our resources, they want our land, our freedoms, and our lives to advance their imperialist agendas across the world and enrich themselves.
In such a critical moment, I proudly stood in coalition to introduce the Renewed Mandate for Human Rights, a resolution to reaffirm our commitment to uphold universal human rights and dignity.
An ex-employee of GEO Group, one of the private prison companies profiting from immigrant detention, will be the new interim head of ICE.
Let’s be clear: his appointment is to ensure Trump’s corporate bosses continue profiting from our communities’ pain.
But Americans demand oversight and accountability. We must Melt ICE, end detention, and dismantle DHS.
