I’m TN’s only member of Congress who voted for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), and I’m proud that we got the job done and secured the largest federal infrastructure investment in Tennessee history right here in Memphis.
Now that same GOP wants to redraw Tennessee’s Congressional maps — silencing the Black community’s voice and destroying the ability for Memphis to have a Congressman who can deliver — all for one reason: because Trump needs to rig the game to hold onto his majority.

The Jim Crow Supreme Court emasculated the Voting Rights Act with their abominable decision this week, and immediately the GOP started eyeing Memphis. It looks like Governor Lee is already caving — he just announced plans this afternoon to convene a special legislative session to review Tennessee’s Congressional maps.
This isn’t about the Constitution or fairness — it’s about Trump and the GOP doing everything they possibly can to hold onto power, avoid accountability, and silence voters before the midterms. That’s the only way they’re going to win, and they know it.
Memphis has been a single congressional district for over a century, and the people here have chosen their representation based on their values and their voices. If it was all about race, I wouldn’t have won re-election 9 times in a row without losing a single precinct.
My team and I are already working with voting rights attorneys to explore pathways to stop this effort, but Memphis needs to make its voice heard. Call your State Representatives and State Senators and urge them to REJECT TRUMP’S TAKEOVER.
