With steep premium increases, Oregonians are being forced to make impossible decisions between paying for food, housing, and child care. I worked through the night to share your stories and fight for a future where healthcare is affordable. I will continue to fight until the final hour and the final vote on this dangerous Republican bill.
The Trump administration wants you to think that the Macadam ICE facility is under attack. It isn’t. The truth is that ICE is an out-of-control federal agency kidnapping people off the streets and causing terror in our communities.
Please be aware, use your camera, and report ICE activity to the PIRC Hotline: (888) 622-1510
Do you know what Disney’s Michael Eisner, Avon Product’s Andrea Jung, and Spanx founder Sara Blakely all have in common? They are all very successful businesspeople who were theater majors. I urged Sec. McMahon to consider how degrees in theater and arts teach skills like confidence, communication, and creativity, which are beneficial in any career.
Surging childcare costs impacts EVERYONE.
Without affordable and accessible childcare, families can’t thrive, women can’t fully participate in the workforce, and children can’t reach their full potential.
Investing in childcare means investing in families, economic growth, and the next generation.
The Trump administration is capping federal loans for students who want to be nurses, social workers, teachers, and enter many other professions. This means they may need to give up on their dreams or turn to high-interest, often predatory private lenders to complete their degrees. At the same time, this administration is spending billions of dollars on war and tax cuts for the wealthy that could go to helping students. Education Sec. McMahon had no good answers about these harmful policies.
I’m introducing legislation to reverse the Trump administration’s disastrous changes to the student loan rule.
Today I demanded answers from Education Secretary McMahon about the ten so-called interagency agreements she made to transfer the administration of critical education programs to other federal agencies. The fact is that several, if not all, of what are really bureaucracy expansion agreements are illegal or unconstitutional and will make services more complicated and less accessible to students and families.
The hardworking, dedicated crew from the Artemis II mission visited the Science Committee! They have brought hope and inspiration to people here in the US and around the world, and they are inspiring us all to reach for the stars 🚀
Thank you to APANO for the wonderful event, Voices of Change: Igniting Embers, and for all you do in the community. We must celebrate and build collective strength as we work toward a better world.
I always appreciate visiting schools and speaking with students. Thank you to the staff and students at Joseph Gale Elementary in Forest Grove for a great visit!
