Last night, I joined our @phillymayor Parker for her Budget Town Hall, hosted at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, here in Fox Chase. Dozens of neighbors came to learn more about her vision for the city, preparations for the celebrations coming this summer with America 250, and ask questions to her and her leadership team. It’s always a privilege to have our Mayor visit our community. I am grateful that Mayor Parker has not forgotten us here in Northeast Philadelphia! Thank you for your leadership Madame Mayor!

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of hosting my colleagues on the House Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee in the heart of my district in Northeast Philadelphia, at Fox Chase Farm. Alongside Farm Administrator Dr. Mandy Manna, I showed colleagues from across Pennsylvania the innovative way Fox Chase educates over 60,000 students in the School District of Philadelphia. We learned about the career-learning skills, which are trained at the farm. We heard powerful testimony from students, and we saw how state funding allows students from across the city to expand their classrooms to green spaces. My colleagues left the tour ready to replicate the work Fox Chase Farm does in their districts. They were inspired by the farm to school food ideas, the job training program, and how the farm teaches students about their nutrition. I’m grateful to represent such an iconic space in Harrisburg and will continue fighting for investment in our community! Thank you to my colleagues and Chairman Pashinski for organizing this event in the 172nd Legislative District.

This week marks National Police Week. During this time, let’s recognize our courageous police officers, State Troopers, and law enforcement for the risk they take everyday to protect and serve us. We also remember those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

As a proud Irish-Catholic, it was an honor to join Irish community leaders, AOH organizations, and other elected officials at the unveiling of the newest Pennsylvania Historical marker, commemorating the 1844 Nativist Riots. These riots took place 180 years ago, here, in Philadelphia, from May 6-8th, 1844. These riots were part of a wave of violence in American cities sparked by Protestant nativists attacks on Irish-Catholic immigrants. The ceremony commenced at St. Michael’s church with a mass, followed by the ceremonial unveiling of the historical marker, and ended with the Nanny Goat Festival, with food and drink vendors in a block party. It’s ironic that this event dealt with the “Know Nothings,” who wanted to persecute and rid Philadelphia of the Irish-Catholic community…..now for generations, individuals who walk down this block and look at this marker will know something…the Irish-Catholic community is resilient and stronger than ever, just as we were 180 years ago. Thank you to my colleagues for partaking in this citation presentation to the organizers.

Protecting taxpayer-funded programs was the focus of Thursday’s hearing. @pahumanservices Secretary Dr. Val Arkoosh and @pa_osig Inspector General Michelle Henry testified that PA’s fraud prevention measures stop improper payments before they even happen - saving hundreds of millions of dollars. The hearing was hosted by @reppgallagher & @rep_dougherty , who both helped pass the Pennsylvania False Claims Act. Testimony detailed the urgent need for this simple, stronger tool to prosecute fraud and recover taxpayer dollars. @pahousedems passed the bill in 2025. The @pasenategop have failed to act. Protecting public trust means ensuring these programs work for the people they were designed to help - and your tax dollars aren’t stolen or wasted. If you know about fraud, report it to 1-855-FRAUD-PA.
