What a great time we had with the family in Georgia at @syncspotlight !!

Some stories are too important to rush. Deraj has one of those stories. I’ve had the privilege of knowing and working with him across so many chapters, from video shoots and brand photo work, to guest speaking together at creative meetups, to eventually asking him a simple but heavy question: “Would you trust me to tell your story?” We filmed the first version of this documentary 3–5 years ago. At the time, everything felt like it should come out immediately. Momentum was there. Opportunities were opening. The timing looked right. But art has its own clock. Life kept moving. We kept growing. And quietly, we both felt that this story wasn’t ready to be released yet, not because it wasn’t good, but because it needed time to breathe, and we had other important matters to invest our energy and focus into. Patience has a way of deepening meaning. And waiting, when done with intention, sharpens the truth. Now feels different. Now feels honest. Now feels aligned. Deraj’s journey isn’t just about music, it’s about resilience, identity, and trusting the process when the path isn’t obvious. We’re incredibly excited to finally share this documentary with the world, and we hope it speaks to music artists and creative entrepreneurs around the world. 🎥 Documentary out now. Link in my bio.

Man this past weekend was something special. Huge thanks to @xj_will & @clintmusic for putting on @shadesofsync for the 3rd year in a row. So much value…so many gems. Stop chasing streams...comment “I’m in” to join me live for a sync training + Q&A next week! I have a lot of conversations with artists/producers who think throwing money at ads, music videos, merch all in the name of “marketing and exposure”…thinking it’s going move the needle. Literally had an artist tell me he was going to spend 25k on 10 music videos with a very small audience and no plan to recoup those costs. None of that is bad, but most NEVER have a clear game plan of how they are going get a monetary return on every dollar spent. Licensing your music for TV/Film is the only pure way I’ve seen where you’re literally getting PAID (4,5,6 figures) to HAVE your music marketed with no out of pocket costs.
