The exhibition REAL?! at @contemporaryshowroom with @andreas_blank_ , @mk_kaehne and me is opened until May 30th 2026. The CSR in the @bikiniberlin is an unusual show place for my works and you will find an unusual concentration of many of my paintings from different work phases of the last 15 years. Insofar it gets a bit the charakter of a chronologically unordered retrospektive view over the developments in my object paintings. Especially the threedimensional works of @andreas_blank_ go here and there in a communication with the paintings in the space whereas the hyperralistic figure of @mk_kaehne sets his own central exclamation mark. So I watch the exhibition REAL?! rather as an experiment than as an answer about imaging, illustrating and showing art (which apparently deals more or less playful with images of the world). The idea of a sneaker for example might probably be more real than the painted Illusion of the same one. The shopping mall situation of the Bikini Berlin and the store windows of the showroom give the art a different reality than an isolated white cube. What do I want from art? Reality?
