These buggies are electric!⚡
Finally got around to documenting my contribution for this super fun music video collaboration with
@107creativestudios last year. Director and buddy
@hopzabeleda gave me tons of creative leeway, and the team worked real hard to come up with some gorgeous shots. The idea was to show the creative spark as it zips around and follows the artist
@awinrecords Watch it from the link in bio!
What I pictured in my head was a flash of electricity that develops various shapes but is always transparent and glowing almost like living neon. To do this, I actually hand animated traditionally within
@boris_fx Silhouette using alpha channels only. This way I could draw over the plate and correctly match the eyelines and timing of the actors.
Another benefit was the built-in Mocha tracking, which I used to auto-paint my traditionally animated frames and really make them stick, something which even amazing programs like Procreate Dreams can't do. I don't think Silhouette was designed for this, but I love blazing new and odd workflows and pushing the limits of what software allows, and thankfully in this case it worked. 😁
Tracking using Mocha, animation done in Boris FX's Silhouette, Compositing in Nuke.
