The day before a Remote Area Medical clinic, our volunteers transform our Community Host Group's location into a RAM clinic. At Roane State Community College in Harriman, Tennessee, they set up 20 different dental care stations, including tents, chairs, tools, and an air purification system, in one day! Thank you so much to all of our volunteers!
Claudia had been having issues with her teeth for over a year. Eight weeks before the Remote Area Medical clinic in Miami Gardens, she had her final tooth extracted and was ready for dentures. During those eight weeks, she had difficulty with a lot of daily tasks, including eating. Thanks to your ongoing support and the RAM mobile denture lab, she has her smile back. First thing to do? Have a really good meal!
Remote Area Medical wishes a Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! A lot of moms have brought their children to RAM clinics over the years. In 2023, at our first clinic in Fairbanks, Alaska, McKenzie brought her four-year-old son, Jaxxus, to help get his vision checked out for a condition called Esotropia. Remote Area Medical is proud to announce that we received the Visionary Leadership Award from The Foxwynd Foundation. This award recognizes leadership, innovation, and courage to address complex challenges impacting communities.
It was meaningful to see the roomful of amazing organizations that Foxwynd supports and learn about their impact on the world. RAM's mission of providing free, quality healthcare is just one way to help those in need, and it is wonderful to learn about others who have the same desire to help. We are very grateful to be a part of the Foxwynd family.

Many people do not have the means to travel very far for medical treatment. That can be very difficult for those living in rural areas, were the nearest hospital could be over 10 miles away and many rural hospitals have had to close in recent years. Remote Area Medical meets these patients halfway here in Tennessee with our mobile clinics where a registered nurse is available in-person and a doctor is available with a video call to diagnose any issues and answer any health questions.
Starting today, the American Nurses Association celebrates National Nurses Week. Nurses truly are a cornerstone of healthcare and Remote Area Medical clinics would be almost impossible without the help of our volunteer nurses. At each RAM clinic, nurses make sure our Triage area and Medical screenings run smoothly and at our Telehealth clinics, nurses provide invaluable assistance to the patients who speak with doctors remotely. RAM would like to give a big "Thank You!" to all our volunteer nurses and all nursing professionals everywhere!
Sommay had been having problems with her dentures for months. She was in a lot of pain and it made something as simple as eating very difficult. She came to the Remote Area Medical Clinic in Miami Gardens with her daughter and they were amazed that they could get new dentures for Sommay in just 1 day.
What an amazing time in Miami Gardens last weekend! With your support, we were able to bring free dental and vision care to hundreds of patients!
Remote Area Medical served over 435 patients and brought more than $315,000 worth of care to the Miami Gardens community.
