Chine collé is a technique used in printmaking in which thin papers are bonded to a heavier support surface. This technique allows you to print on a much more delicate surface, such as Japanese papers, which pull finer details off the plate. The appeal of this process lies in its translucency which creates a light that is different from the effect of painting on paper. This is a great class for artists with some intaglio experience who want to add a new technique to their printmaking practice! In recognition of the Nuclear Past, Present, Future show currently up at the Hispanic Cultural Center Art Museum, we invite you to come join the Tabletop Peace Train! This one day workshop, led by Stephanie Weiner (@revolutionarylemonadestand ) provides an intro to the creation of protest art through the medium of linocut relief carving and printing. All skill levels including beginners are welcome. The focus will be on carving the block, but will touch on the image transfer process, registration, reduction and collage techniques that will make your work pop! Each person should come with an idea or photo on their phone of a person who is marching for peace or justice about any issue or from any time in history. In addition inspirational photos will be available at the time of the class. After we carve and print the images, we will cut them out and mount them on cardboard and a wood block to create a 3-dimensional figure. Every participant will be able to take at least one print home along with their Linoleum plate, and leave one that will actually stand up to join the group parade on the table! #linocut #printmaking #protestart #abqartists #nmartists

Applications due this Sunday!! Remarque Print Workshop & Gallery invites printmakers and photographers from around the world to submit work for our exhibition, The Printmaker and the Photographic Image: Dissolving Media Boundaries to be held at Remarque Print Workshop & Gallery in Albuquerque, NM from June 19th – August 1st, 2026. A few spots have opened up for this Friday's Screen Print Social Hour at Remarque Print Workshop! Come kick off Mother's Day weekend, come celebrate the end of the work week, come play with art supplies while snacking and sipping on a beverage. We've been asked if teenagers can be brought along to the social hour...sure! If they would feel comfortable with you at a brew pub, they are welcome. This time we'll be making a May flowers poster. (Ignore the May 1 date on the graphic for this event. I had a family thing last week and had to reschedule. You get it, right?) Sign up at remarqueprintshop.com

Remarque is hosting six printmaking residents this June! Asenath Lizárraga will be joining us from Olympia. They’re passionate about creating art that captures the beauty of Latin American culture, and that emphasizes the many points of cultural unity that exist across this vast continent that they have ancestral ties to. They screen print using a self taught multi-layer process, hand make their own screens, and build their own printing presses and exposure units. Welcome, @asenathlizarraga !
