New work: Catalogue for the @metmuseum exhibition, “Gothic by Design: The Dawn of Architectural Draftsmanship.” The book adopts an atypically vertical format, allowing it to better display the content, and giving it a distinct proportional presence. It is set in Jenson, an old-style face with organic eccentricities that complement the ornate visual grammar of gothic architecture.
New work: Typographic identity and brochure for @fortunyofficial and the POLPO collection. The A4 booklet features a short-cut cover printed with silver ink on a dyed blue uncoated paper. A strip of the image underneath is visible and, when opened, reveals a dramatic aerial photograph of the Venetian lagoon. Throughout the brochure, a second metallic ink is used for discreet typography, organizing the design around a balanced layout that gently focuses attention on the exquisite textiles themselves.
Beautifully printed and produced by @grafiche_veneziane
Ken Vandermark, “October Flowers for Joe McPhee”. Very happy to see this new album design for @ken_vandermark and @corbettvsdempseymusic — an entrancing solo effort, dedicated to the legendary Joe McPhee. The cover features artwork by Arch Connelly, and the interior panels and disc are the “flowers” — solid swatches of pure color, sampled from the art.
