Street Geek Magazine 01 Launch Party
Around 3 years ago, I was frustrated trynna find a salary job in any creative field: marketing, fashion, graphic design, writing - anything. I aint get shit. No interviews, emails back, nothing. But I always believed in myself to the fullest. I always knew my potential, my capabilities, and my value as not just a creative but as a person.
So I said FUCK IT. I gave up trying to find a comfortable salary job. And I was just tired of working for other people. Feeling disposable at any moment, just like a cog in a machine. A pawn. I made up my mind to really just do my own thing and put all of my energy into it and to mainly work for myself.
We are here now! Moved to New York in 2019, a month after graduating college — about 7 years ago now — to work in the fashion industry. The vision has slightly changed but the dream has always been the same: To be apart of NYC culture. To add to the culture. I’ve always been heavily influenced by NYC. From hip-hop, to L3NF, to streetwear, DTNY, Larry Clark and Kids. There’s so much media, art, and facets of the people here that I love. That I gravitate to.
I love people. I love culture. I love learning and being apart/exposed to different groups of people and their traditions. Their way of living. How they see the world. Aint no place as culturally dense as this city. And I just want others like me — ppl passionate bout what they do, no matter the circumstance — to be heard. If you got something to say, say it. Whether thru music, art, words, fashion, whatever medium. Never stop creating, never settle, don’t get discouraged, and don’t feel the pressure to conform or compromise your voice to please corporations, elites, ppl out of touch, whatever df. Keep struggling. Keep chasing. Keep the community strong.
Appreciate everybody that popped out. All my friends, all my homies, my peers, the community. Love y’all! Can’t express it enough. Hope yall hadda good time. And thanks to Homerun & the homie
@diegocruzfern for making a good night possible.
FOR THE CULTURE.
