The November Terran R program update is out. Progress is building across design, build, test, and launch as hardware and infrastructure ramp forward.
🏭 On the floor, teams completed all circumferential welds on the first stage tank and wrapped acceptance testing on the second stage tank.
🖥️ Thrust structure HITL hardware integration is complete, enabling software, avionics, and partner teams to validate designs ahead of run-for-record testing.
🔥 At NASA Stennis, testing continues with both Aeon R and Aeon V engines.
🌴 At LC-16, the water tower tank is now placed atop the downcomer, with siding and structural work continuing across the HIF.
...and much more.
From Space Beach and the Space Coast, Terran R hardware and infrastructure are coming to life across design, build, test and launch. Get the latest in from Terran R’s October update..
🏭 On the factory floor teams installed the second stage downcomer and forward test adapter on the tank in preparation for acceptance testing, with continued progress on first stage fuel tank build.
🖥️ Teams completed thrust structure hardware-in-the-loop hardware integration, creating a testbed for software, avionics, and partner teams to validate designs and automation before use on the vehicle.
🔥 @nasastennis , the R stand has been busy. The team completed the first round of acceptance testing for a stage one engine and is actively testing the second stage vacuum engine development article.
🌴 At LC-16, the water tower is now being erected, currently standing 60 feet tall and climbing

Fall has arrived, and with it more Terran R program progress across design, build, test, and launch.
🏗️ Build: The first flight thrust structure passed acceptance testing, proving it can withstand 3.7million lbf of tension. It is now undergoing integration, including the installation of secondary structures. 🔥 Test: Acceptance testing of the first flight Aeon R engine began at NASA Stennis, while second-stage vacuum engine development continued with full-duration burns – including a 475-second mission duty cycle hot fire. 🌴 Launch: At Cape Canaveral, the horizontal integration facility is fully framed, and lightning protection tower foundations are taking shape.

July marked a major milestone for the Terran R program: qualification of the Aeon R engine. Stay tuned for a behind-the-scenes deep dive on the qualification campaign coming soon. 👀
With sufficient runtime logged, we’ve validated expected flight performance including start cycles, duration, inlet conditions, and throttle and gimbal profiles.
But that wasn’t all. Last month, we also loaded our second stage engine, Aeon V, onto the test stand for upcoming hot fires, begun preparations for first stage tank weld operations, acceptance tested flight hardware, upgraded piping and electrical on the A2 stage test stand, and started fabrication of LC-16's water tower.
