That's only the beginning for Raymond and Graeme ...... they took the boat back to Pittenweem, then returned to Crail to cook and prepare the crab and lobster, ready for The Shed to open at 12, ably helped by Andrew.
This will be repeated, daily, throughout the Summer!
Thanks Guys!!

** Unusual colours of lobster - mega facts **
Adding to the fact file -
Lobsters are usually a mottled greenish brown to blackish brown colour , which helps to camouflage them on the sea bed. They get their shell colour from a pigment called 'astaxanthin' - when the lobsters are cooked this protein is changed, turning the lobsters red.
Rarer colours of lobster are caused by an excessive amount of a particular protein, such as blue lobsters (1 in 2million) and, rarer still, yellow and calico lobsters, which oceanographers estimate are 1 in 30 million. When cooked they still turn red or pink.
(The statistics are from Scientists in Maine, USA, so may not be totally accurate for our lobsters here - but they are rare!!)
Now you know!
*** 50th Anniversary ***
On Saturday a lovely Swedish couple came to visit us at The Shed. They were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary by travelling around Scotland. Having been driven out of Edinburgh by thousands of 'Swifties', they came to Crail to eat lobster at the Harbour. They were delighted by the fact that Reilly Shellfish is also celebrating our 50th anniversary this year!
1974 - 2024
Any other 50th anniversaries? Let us know!
*** Why not buy ...... ***
This weekend, at The Shed, as well as our delicious lobster and crab, you can also purchase -

Hen, bantam and goose eggs

*** Comely's makeover is nearly complete! ***
This is the final week of repairs and maintenance on Comely, before she returns to the sea, to resume fishing duties. We've missed her but she's looking great - thanks to everyone's hard work!
*** Behind the scenes at Reilly Shellfish ***
There's a lot of hard work goes on to prepare the seafood we sell in The Shed.
Everything is freshly prepared early in the morning, ready for The Shed opening at 12.
Raymond and Graeme make it look easy, but I think it is the years of practice they've had!!
