This isn’t how we drew it up, but we’re so fortunate for these past four years, and the community we’ve built with all of you.
We’re forever grateful for the beloved members of our team who worked so hard to give this place an identity. To the vendors who inspired us, and provided such beautiful goods for us to share. For our generous customers, neighbors and friends, who supported this bike-shop-turned-general-store, and made it feel like a home.
They say trees can’t grow on Smith Street. The F and G leave little room for roots. But we carved our initials into the trunk of this tree at Smith and Bergen, and so did all of you.

The last few months have been a myriad of emotions, but we’re happy to say we’re opening back up: )
This weekend (starting tonight!) — we’ll be working our way back into the groove!
Hours will be a little different (9am-9pm-ish), offering will be a little different (beer & wine!), the vibe might feel a little different, but we’ll do our best to bring the same energy we always have and to have conversations again.
We want you and our staff to feel safe and we are so grateful to get things going again and to serve the neighborhood we adore ❤️
What day is it? 12 strange ones since we closed.
Still processing the ramifications, as it’s all been abrupt & uncertain. But staying home is the safest and smartest thing we can do, for our team + our community.
But it’s really tough to not see so many of you. Our journey has been fueled by our amazing customers and team members that have supported us along the way. The relationships our team has formed continuously lifted us up to do what we do.
As a small, kinda quirky, independent shop, we don’t have much security on our side, and our operations rely entirely on our day-to-day sales. Everybody on our team works super hard for a very modest income, and we love the opportunity to serve you and be part of the fabric of our neighborhood. Not being able to provide that service while being stuck on pause really sucks. Only way to put it.
We’re not sure when we will get to safely open again, and what that will mean for our team when we do. But right now, we are missing all the small talk, the couch hangs, the matchas with the oat milk, the New York Times crosswords, and the sense of human connection that we’re all craving right now. All of that seems trivial at the moment, but so important at the same time. Feeling nostalgic for all the little stuff.
It’s difficult coming on here, hat in hand while everyone is dealing with their own disruption. But please consider supporting our team from home if you can.
